Swim
Comments: Good swim for me. Got in and kept my pace even, just sub 2min/100. kept the breathing even. drafted well. was behind someone going at a steady pace for about 1/2 the swim. ended up passing him and then was on my own - think he may have been drafting behind me. What would you do differently?: nothing. maybe continue to work on intensity to bring the overall speed up a bit Transition 1
Comments: good transition for me. felt good out of the swim. jogged to my bike. took the suit off all the way and got my helmet and shoes on. took some water before going on the bike What would you do differently?: just work on speed and efficiency through the transition Bike
Comments: i did so much better this year on the bike than last year - one year of training paid off. avg 2mph faster this time around. felt good coming off the bike into transition. What would you do differently?: dont think i drank enough as I only went through one bottle - 24oz. should have gone through another 1/2 bottle Transition 2
Comments: good transition. sat down to put on socks and shoes - quick break frmo the action What would you do differently?: quicker. get out on the run faster. stop using socks Run
Comments: i did again so much better this year than last. hydration better (not the best). managed to feel great until mile 4.5, then had mild quad cramping and had to walk a few seconds before resuming. did this off and on the rest of the way. prevented me from going sub 3hrs which was my goal What would you do differently?: hydration efforts, training intensity. Post race
Warm down: met with friends (mary, dennis, vivian) and kim. hung around, had some water. left for bayside for food and a beer What limited your ability to perform faster: intensity training; even though i did a lot more long workouts, more are needed for me to perform solid for 3 hrs. Event comments: looking forward to next year. Last updated: 2009-01-03 12:00 AM

Got up at 4, had a shower then had some coffee and oatmeal and a banana. drove to the race site. STayed with some friends the night before at the Mariott and raided the concierge floor of all that was healthy. We found a box full of booze - if only the race wasnt the next day...could have had a great night.
Set up transition. wandered over to the pro area. walked around for a while. visited the portajohns (three times) - must have been the coffee. ran about 5 min to get the blood flowing, then just watched the heats go off (I was 30-34 so wave 12).
