Up early for breakfast, then to Meredith to warm-up (too cold and rainy for outside warm-up).

Comments:

Went out a little quick at 6:45 minute miles for the first few, then trailed off from miles 5 to 8. Felt stronger from mile 10 to the end than in the past.
What would you do differently?:

Need to focus on a steadier pace. Felt like I could have pushed it some more in the middle.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked about to get some food and stay loose, borrowed a T-shirt from my friend Doug, who had an excellent race too. Tried to watch the rest of my friends finish, but somehow failed to actually see any of them cross the line.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental toughness in the middle of the race was a bit lacking.

Event comments:

PR in this distance by four and a half minutes! Actually trying to train for the race paid off, who knew? It's my fourth straight Drake Half-Marathon, and I'll likely be back for number 5.

Course: I love this course, winding through residential Des Moines. Mostly flat, although the long uphill at mile 10 to 11 is tough on me.
