Pre-race routine:

Got up early and ate a piece of banana bread, had a banana and then hung out until 7:30am and then had an english muffin and little bit of coffee.
Event warmup:

No warm up. We just jogged/walked from the car down to the starting line. We got there about 10 minutes before the race. It was overcast but not raining and was a nice 40 degrees at this time. Perfect weather. I decided to take my belt but with only two bottles and my hammer gels. I planned to get most of my fluid on the course.

Comments:

I lined up in the 8 min group at the starting line with Jon and we talked to a few people around us before the gun went off. I took off and got into a rhythm for the first few miles. I didn't want to go too fast early so I kept it in the upper 7's for pretty much the whole first half of the race. I came through the half way point right around 1:43 and felt great. I stopped for about :30 and gave Tyra my iPod (it wasn't working) and my arm warmers because I was too hot and switched out my bottles. I headed out again and then right around 14-15 the weather started to turn. It started to rain a little and the temp started dropping. I started feeling light headed somewhere between 18-20. I couldn't figure out why. I walked a little thinking it would pass but it didn't. My legs wanted to run but each time I started to run I would feel nauseous. The feeling got worse and I ended up getting sick on the side of the road. I thought well at least I got it out of my system and I can run again. Nope..each time I started running again I would feel nauseous. I basically spent the last 10k in a jog/throw up mode. All the fluids I had been drinking were not getting absorbed by my body. I think I got sick 8-10 times. I was freezing cold by this time. It was raining, windy and I was wet and cold. I wanted to run faster just so I could finish and get warm. The last time was around 25.5 and at that point I had no more fluids to give up. I managed to get to the finish line and was pale as a ghost.
What would you do differently?:

Not drink as much. I didn't feel like I was taking in too much water but obviously I was. I was hoping to hit that 3:30 mark but today wasn't my day.
Post race
Warm down:

After I got my medal I headed inside. I was freezing. I couldn't get my body to stop shivering. After I got inside and was siting there I had two different ladies come up to me and ask me if I needed to have a paramedic come over to help me. I was white as a ghost and felt like crap.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Drinking too many fluids. My legs still wanted to run but no dice.

Event comments:

The water on the course tasted like pond water. I thought I was going to gag the first time I drank it. I went for the Gatorade after that. The race is well done. I felt sorry for those volunteers out there late in the race. It was cold, rainy and windy.

Course: The course was nice. There are only a couple of hills that you hit between 7-9 and then again at 20-22. The course winds all over the Hyannis area through residential areas and then has a few stretches that run along the coast. It's a two loop course.
