Event warmup:

Went down to the starting line to familiarize myself with the course. Checked to see how cold the water was.
Swim
  • 14m 33s
  • 437 yards
  • 03m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was somewhat aggressive for me. Got pulled down a couple of times by someone who kept grabbing my legs. I also got hit on the arm twice which by this time I was getting pretty upset. By the time I reached the second buoy my calve muscles started cramping up really bad so I just took it easy from there on. Water also got in my goggles so I took them off. After that I was just taking my time, I was there to have a good time and I did. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really I'm pretty happy with my accomplishment considering that I didn't trained as much for it.
Transition 1
  • 03m 45s
Comments:

I had trouble finding where my bike was at first, but once I found it everything went smoothly. I had the wetsuit off pretty fast, put on my socks and shoes and off I went.
What would you do differently?:

I would probably not take my timing chip off next time, since I forgot to put it back on when I took of the wetsuit.
Bike
  • 46m 4s
  • 9 miles
  • 11.72 mile/hr
Comments:

The course was pretty flat. I was shocked when I saw how bad I did on this. I have to admit that I was not being as aggressive as I'm used to when I bike ride, but again I was there to have a good time.
Transition 2
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

It really bugged me that the person next to me just threw his bike on top of my stuff and had no consideration whatsoever to even put his bike back up on the rack. When I got there I had to move his bike in order to fit mine in and that took a while.
What would you do differently?:

I rather not say what I would do in this case :)
Run
  • 30m 44s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was very easy, but I would of rather had some hills thrown in also. I was really taking it easy, because at the end I was not tired at all.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was not mentally prepared for this event, I kind of got suckered into doing it without the proper training for it. My biggest concern was my legs cramping-up on me on the swim. I actually had nightmares about it all week before the race. I was a bit scared, nervous and excited all at once, I have to say that I had never felt butterflies in my stomach like I did that day and boy they were making a racket. As I'm hearing the announcer go through each wave and finally announcing my wave-start I almost puked. I kept wondering where Mike was when I needed him the most looking around for him hoping that I would see him and at least get some words of encouragement or something to calm me down. Heck I wouldn't have mind if he would of called me a chicken at least that would of motivated me to swim faster. But thank God I had this nice lady next to me who by the look of my face I guess, she asked me if I was okay, as I kept answering NO, No No, what was I thinking, what am I doing here, I must be crazy, I want to go home, I'm hungry I missed my coffee this morning.. the silliest things came to mind. She ended up being my swim buddy for a while during the swim. I don't remember what happen to her as I kept swimming and she kind of disappeared from sight. I guess she figured out that I was going to be okay after all. Once my swim was over I had over come my fears and remembered Mikes words that it was going to be a fun event and not to worry. It sure was fun and I enjoyed it very much.

Event comments:

A very exciting event filled with lots of friendly people.
