Swim
Comments: I started in the back cause i didnt want to get stumped by others. Everyone sprinted out and i was like damn they are really fast. I remained calm cause i knew i could do the distance easily. After the first buoy the group started to spread out and kept passing people from my age group, alot of them seemed exhausted which i though was weird. I tried to keep on course but went a little off and had to regroup. After the second turn i got a little cramp in my foot, it was definitely from kicking too much, so i relaxed on the last part and still passed people from waves before. Overall felt very comfortable, the water temp wasnt an issue and came out of the water very fresh i actually ran all the way to my bike which was all the way by the "bike out". What would you do differently?: Nothing really, felt very good. Transition 1
Comments: I was very pumped since i felt so good outta the water, but running on that pavement wasnt easy. I had a good spot since my rack was the closest to the bike out. Bike
Comments: I felt really good on the bike, the first time up the bridge was a little challenging but i managed to keep my cadence high, going downhill was a thrill but the first time around i was little scared, after the u-turn we climbed the bridge again. I adjusted from the first climb and felt really good, going downhill i loosen up and really pushed hard. After the first lap i was happy that my knee wasnt hurting but my calf was a little tight. Halfway through the 2nd lap my lower back started hurting but i fought through it an finished strong. The core strength workouts have definitely helped me a lot on the bike. What would you do differently?: Train more. Transition 2
Comments: I was happy to be out of the bike and excited to have come this far. I forgot my race number belt AGAIN. whatever. Run
Comments: I started the run very strong feeling very good, i had decided to leave my gu gel at T2 since i didnt feel the need for it. The first lap went extremely well i did it in around 25 minute. The turnaround and second lap was horrible, i think mentally it took a hit on me, i would much rather have one long lap than this. At mile four i was feeling horribly tired, it was HOT i couldnt have enough water. The cramp started to bother me really bad and the lack of electrolytes and fluids didnt help. When i hit mile 5 i was mentally ready to sprint to the line but my legs were not connected with my mind. I had to walk a couple times because of bad cramps. I ran to the finish line and man did that feel good. When i crossed the finish line my cramps were so bad i couldnt move, i just stood there a few feet from the finish line drinking some water and that delicious orange juice. What would you do differently?: Obviously run more, and monitor nutrition. It definitely makes a difference for longer races. Post race
Warm down: I just walked around and went to get some food. What limited your ability to perform faster: I could have trained more but recently had a knee injury. So more training and hydration will take care of my problems. Event comments: I loved this race because it was my first olympic, the race director did a fine job. Overall i was very happy with my performance and now that the soreness is going away, i cant wait till next year. Last updated: 2009-02-09 12:00 AM

I woke up at 4:00 AM, i had toast with strawberry jelly and peanut butter. Also drank a bottle of gatorade and a gu gel. Stretched a little bit before heading out.
Arrived at around 5:30 went straight to transition where i got body marked. I took all my stuff out of my bag and set it up on the floor. I pumped my tires and chatted with a couple of rackmates. I kept hydrating and stretched some more. At around 6:30am i went to the beach and chatted with a man from Massachusetts about the race and later warmed up. The water was COLD, i had no wetsuit and you couldnt see anything cause it was still dark.
