Swim
Comments: Ok swim. If I hold this pace for Ironman I'll be happy. I sighted well and swam right at the buoys. Felt over all very comfortable and enjoyed the swim. What would you do differently?: Not much considering my goal for the day. Transition 1
Comments: I love having strippers!! Took a little extra time to try and get the dead grass off my feet before shoeing up, but no big deal. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Bike
Comments: I had a pretty good ride overall. I could of pushed harder but like previously stated that was not today's goal. I did have a few issues on the ride though. On the first loop my front derailer problem reared its head: I slipped in to my middle front chain ring and could not get back to the big chain ring to whole ride, this was frustrating. The other issue was at the u-turn on College: as I made the turn a lady to my left grabbed a bottle from the aid station and then swerved 3 feet to the left, we actually touched arms and handle bars. I yelled 'HEY' at her and she blamed the hand off from the volunteer, fortunately we were going slow and I was able to recover relatively easily. Other than that it was a uneventful ride. What would you do differently?: I needed to drink more INFINT only got down 3/4 of one bottle instead of the 2 I had planned. Also show up to race without mechanical issues with the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Took a little extra time in this transition because my running shoes have been rubbing my in-step really bad and I needed to put some moleskin on both feet. Run
Comments: I have not able to run as much as I should since I hurt my foot and this showed in my run pace. The good news is I ran with no pain from the injury and that is the most important thing. I felt better as the run went on, the only problem being a little calf cramping the last mile or so. This does worry me because that is what ruined my IMAZ 08 run, but I think if I can eat some bananas for potassium and drink the amount of Infint I should I'll be alright. What would you do differently?: If I can sustain this pace the whole time for the marathon in a few weeks I'll be happy. If nothing else this race might have reminded me of my calf cramping problems and the need to take steps to alleviate them, is just that makes me glad I did this race (and I like the race a lot). Post race
Warm down: Sit in the shade and deal with some super bad calf cramps :( Unfortunately I couldn't hang out as long as usual to see everybody finish, but Amy's parents were visiting from San Antonio and had a long day race spectating. We headed back top the house tho chill and cook some dinner. Event comments: I always enjoy this race and this year was especially cool because there were a lot of the Cool Kids out there! Some of the peeps set PR's and some people did their first 1/2 iron race, but everybody did great! Last updated: 2009-02-10 12:00 AM

Wake-up @ 4:30 gather the gear and head down to TTL.
Brought my old parka from my diving days at WKU, its was great to have to stay warm! It's been 15 years since I wore it but I see my self bring it to more early morning starts, it's like a tent you can wear! Wearing it was my warm-up :). Tried to remind myself this race is just a pacing warm-up for IMAZ.
