Swim
What would you do differently?: Not a whole lot I can do differently, I felt pretty good. Only got passed once or twice by some other same-day sign up fast freaks. Transition 1
Comments: I FORGOT MY HELMET! Thank goodness some women yelled at me before I was too far gone, bless her heart! I threw my bike back and ran to get my helmet. Wow, thinking back on it-thank goodness for that little lady and her loud voice-major DQ. What would you do differently?: I had a hard time with socks- I was dripping a lot and forgot my helmet the first time, gloves were also hard to put on, but maybe having a swim cap would have been nice to keep my hair from being too wet. Bike
Comments: Well the first half was a lot harder than the first. I was booking it at 24 miles and hour for a while on the second half. The first half had some horrible head wind. What would you do differently?: Always can get some more leg training... more swim bike transitions... Transition 2
Comments: You know, threw everything off, tied my shoes with a double knot- somethings are just habit! Run
Comments: Ok, so I put my left foot out and then I swung my other foot out in front of it and then I repeated that several times. Sometimes I swung fast, sometimes I swung slower... What would you do differently?: More training, it just has to be done. Best thing said to me, "You've come to far to walk, move it" Post race
Warm down: Owie. Stretched out nothing... What limited your ability to perform faster: Ok, so we had the racing chip on with this plastic belt thingy and it cut into my ankle, not bad but enough to draw blood. This guy that I met during the swim and saw on the run actually gave me his ankle belt! Like a real one, I mean I know they only cost 5-10 bucks, but it was just so sweet! I didn't have enough sense to give it back I was kinda not thinking, but he was so sweet. I love men like that! Event comments: Good first time race, and a good one to start the year to check your levels. I improved this year in my times, but I know that I have to run a lot more if I plan on doing a half! Well, this was a little different then usual. Woke-up at Nicole's place around 6:30, leisurely got dressed and headed over there for a 10am race start. We went to go pick up our packets and I did not sign-up! I wasn't on the list... heart attack, I drove FOUR HOURS for nothing! Luckily there were about 15 open spots for race-day sign-up. I graciously took one and paid for it... 80.00 bucks! AND a 12:17 race start, two hours past orginally time...
Yeah I was a little upset over this turn of events, I was worried I would be last and it was close, there were maybe 15-20 people behind me.
None for the event, I watched my JMU girls go off and then waited around for my turn, I ate some SmartOne cereal with no milk (nom nom nom)
