Bike
Comments: Conditions were MISERABLE. Cold, wet, and rainy. The course was drenched. By mile 3 I could feel water puddling in my shoes. I forgot to gear down at the turnaround, so that cost me 4-5 seconds. Went out not-too-hard, caught 4 people, got passed by two much faster people and one whom I had passed. POWERED up a hill that usually drains me some. The "out" part of the course was run just right. About 2/3 of the way back I started to feel a little fatigued (started the first 1/3 of the "back" portion a little too fast), so I dialed it back a touch and managed to finish strong. Once I could see the finish line, I was standing until I couldn't any more (about 20 yds). What would you do differently?: Train a little more. Not forget to gear down at the turnaround. Post race
Warm down: Stopped to chat with a couple of the Endurance Concepts guys at their tent while I waited for my legs to start working again. Pack up the bikes and get into some dry clothes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Early season training, weather this time of year makes it difficult to get in real road miles and running sessions. I could have put in more trainer time, but I'm very happy with my result from my first-ever TT. Event comments: Good time. LOTS of riders. Excellent even tto start the season. Looking forward to this for years to ocme. Last updated: 2009-02-15 12:00 AM
