Run
Comments: I felt very good and listened to my friends advice about pacing myself for the first half and letting people pass me and then pick it up at the end. With the exception of not 1, not 2, but 3 bathroom breaks (one including visiting a hardee's bathroom at about mile 7.5) I did very well and would've reached my goal of under 4 hours for my first. The toughest part of the race for me came from miles 16-18 then again at 19 when I had to visit the port-0-john again. It was very motivating the last 10k with not a single person passing me and me making up a lot of ground! My chip timing for the different miles was interesting, I really like how I came in a lot stronger than other runners: 8 miles - 1:19:47 13.1 - 2:03:02 20 miles - 3:07:49 Final - 4:00:39 What would you do differently?: My diet the week before, I think I had too much green stuff and not enough carbs leading up to the race. Post race
Warm down: Walked around not being able to control my legs, stretched out at a picnic table, got a free massage/stretch and found my dad. Event comments: I had a lot of fun, If I run in this race next year on Valentines Day I think I will have to get a shirt made up mentioning that I am single, maybe I can find a lady friend, overall though it was awesome just running by myself. I had a good week of rest leading up to the race. I woke up at 4:15am and started sipping on water and ate a power bar.
I went outside to check the weather and also do a light 10 minute walk/jog. I came inside and did some light stretches before cathcing the shuttle at 5:45 to the race start which did not get there until 6:20. While waiting in line for the bathroom I heard the gun go off so I quickly hurried up and made my way to the start.
