Comments:

I had planned to do a run/walk for this race for a few reasons, I didn't want to kill myself as this is a B or C race and I wanted to practice arun/walk for my IM. I learned I have no self control. I ran the whole thing save for a quick potty stop.
Alice told me she did not want me to run with her, she wanted to do her own thing. Once we started I let her get about 8-10 feet in front of me and followed her until about mile 4, where I lost sight of her. I cruised for a while after that. I hit the john somewhere around mile 6-7, not because I needed to but because as I was running by someone popped out of the porti-john and there was no line. So I figured, why not?
At mile 8 they were handing out jells. I grabbed the first one I saw. It was an orange flavor. Nope, I don't do the fruit flavored jells. I grabbed another, chocolate, mmmmmmm. I held the orange jell high up above my head and asked if anyone wanted it. No takers. Once I turned my attention to the chocolate jell I realized it was leaking all over my hands. Since I had no idea who opened it both jells went on the next garbage can I saw. Then I took some water and washed my hands. What a waste of time the whole jell incident was.

At mile I crossed mile 10 at 1:30:15, roughly, and still felt really good. I decided to see if could catch Alice, somewhere in front of me. I dropped the hammer. I never did catch her but I finished the last 5k in about 27:20.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I set a PR by 2:16 without trying.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a bit waiting for Jeremy and Judith to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being a slow runner.

Event comments:

I enjoyed this one. The weatherman was calling for rain yeasterday but it was a really beautiful day for a foot race. Slightly overcast and cool. We didn't get a drop of rain all weekend.
