Run
Comments: I had myself at a 17:46 which is 3 seconds off my 5k PR. So I was stoked that I was only slightly above threshold. Lots of fun racing. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: This was a smooshmortion of epic porportions!!!! I was "that guy" today. 1st should have practiced a transition or two or three with the new bike shoes and I would have noticed how easy they pop off if the cranks spin and the shoe hits the ground. Long story short - run of T1 with the bike - cross the mount line - right shoe (opposite side that I'm on) pops off - pick up shoe - embrassed jump on bike nearly crash into at least 3 other folks - as I'm putting my left foot in the shoe it pops off and luckily I dont have to stop but I'm coasting as I throw the foot in and get going - Nasty! What would you do differently?: practice a transition - use the rubber bands Bike
Comments: After the T1 debacle it was a great ride minus my speedometer magnet flipping on me going down the first good hill. I enjoyed the course - the race wheels made climbing faster I don't know if it was easier... I settled into a good pace and was having a great time. However, I did op check my new brake pads at the turn around when two ladies decided to walk their fat tire tandem and hug the turn around cone basically cutting me off. I locked up the back wheel slid for about 1-2 feet gave a "look out" and went around the outside had to sprint to get back after the almost complete stop What would you do differently?: recommend to the race director to have the fat tire division go later in the race. Fix the speedometer. Transition 2
Comments: No problems here probably jumped out of the shoes a little early What would you do differently?: Not much Run
Comments: Was fun - raced the whole thing. I was looking ahead trying to put out good effort and not worry about position. I scared the guy ahead of me into picking up his pace. I closed to about 100 yrds back and he picked it up. I was hoping that he was 3rd place but couldn't seal the deal. I liked having my last mile be my fastest. Felt strong. What would you do differently?: Not much Post race
Warm down: Ate a bunch - drank some nasty protien drinks that they were giving away. What ever company that was... they are going to have a hard time selling that stuff. Heather gave me a back rub and I streched a little. Then we went back, broke camp and came to the subway sammy party. What limited your ability to perform faster: T1 Event comments: I'm not a big drinker but a cold beer after a race is almost a given for me. If they had a keg I didn't see it. Maybe something to stick in the cooler. Passing a lot of the fat tire people was fun but a little on the dangerous side Last updated: 2009-03-09 12:00 AM

Camped at the park the night prior. Went pretty well. Woke up, threw my stuff in the backpack hopped on the bike and coasted to transition. Seriously we were maybe 1/4 mile away from transition. Ate a bagel, banana, had some starbucks frappacino, and sucked 1/2 a bottle my strong HEED / Endourlytes mix
Rode for about 15 minutes, felt out the wheels and shifted through everything surged up a couple hills maybe 5 miles.
Ran for about 1 mile - dynamic streching - tried to stay loose and warm. My back was already tight probably from camping night prior.
