Comments: The course seemed long. Sighted well and was able to draft a few times. Wetsuit is nice to have. What would you do differently?: Do Not get a chest cold/bronchitis 2+ weeks before a race. Transition 1
Comments: I felt slow but it was actually a quick transition. ranked 23 Overall/2 AG Bike
Comments: I probably should've driven the course before the race to see hills. Passed a bunch of people on the way out and a few inbound, no one passed me. Legs felt okay even with the lack of riding I've done over the past few weeks. Hit 45mph on the last hill in the aero bars, that was fun. The dismount line was at the bottom of a hill and I nailed the flying dismount, years of cyclocross racing helps. What would you do differently?: Do Not get a chest cold/bronchitis 2+ weeks before a race. Transition 2
Comments: T2 felt slow, knew it was going to be a long run as I ran out of transition. ranked 21 Overall/2 AG. Run
Comments: Had a horrible run, I just could not get the legs to open up so I shuffled along. Tried to stretch out my stride on the downhills but never got them to move until the last mile. A bunch of people flew by me and all I could do was wish them well. The legs finally felt somewhat normal in the last mile but by then the day was over. Opened it up on the downhill finish to keep from being passed for the upteenth time and was able to hold him off. What would you do differently?: Do Not get a chest cold/bronchitis 2+ weeks before a race. Post race
Warm down: I went straight to the lake and waded in to cool off. I floated around for a while then got out and drank a few bottles of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick in the weeks before the race and not being able to train. Event comments: Great location for a race even if it's in the middle of nowhere, beautiful mountains around the lake. Last updated: 2009-03-24 12:00 AM

Drove to the race site early, set up transition then listened to the iPod and got into the right mindset. Even if my body's not ready to race I might as well get my mind into it. I chatted with friends who were also racing.
