  • Comments: Great race, with excellent organization and no hiccups whatsoever. Fantastic fan support and atmosphere both at the start, the transitions and the finish. Great shirt, visor and medal. And the run course actually encourages lots of fans to collect at Miles 1, 4, 9 and 13. If you can deal with a chattery bike ride and a challenging hilly run, this is the place to feel like a true athlete, even in a first Half Ironman. But if it was easy, everyone would do it.

  • Comments: I feel like I executed my plan very well minus the run. My nutrition seemed to work well. I had a gu 20 minutes before the swim, three IM Performs on the bike and a water. I also had a bonk breaker and a HS waffle on the ride, and then another gu on the run while alternating perform and water at every aid station on the run. Only briefly did I feel like my stomach wasn't in great shape and that didn't last long. I can't wait to do another HIM, but am going to have to wait because there's not any close to where I live until April and that's too close to IMTX and I'm not willing to risk it prior to my first IM. I would definitely do this race again...maybe next year...we'll see how things are going at that point. It was a lot of fun!

  • Comments: This is the second time I have done this race and it is great. I love the route and the weather was perfect. It is so well organized and the aide stations were well stocked the entire day. Would recommend this race to anyone wanting to do a 70.3.

  • Comments: If I lived near Austin, I'd be entering this race again [and again and again and again until I got it right]. I'll just have to chock this one up as a certain kind of failure. For all my pre-race talk of listening to my body as I trained [I never used a heart rate monitor and rarely used a watch] I abandoned what I knew for what I thought I knew. A great race for my first HIM. The race was well-supported. No complaints.

  • Comments: I was really impressed with this race. I hear people complain a bit about the road conditions, and, while they are not good, there is nothing the race director can do about that, and they are rideable. The volunteers were FANTASTIC, and I never felt like I was on my own without support anywhere on that course.

  • Comments: Had a great time. I don't know why they want to take advantage of you at the ironman store. The stuff is really expensive and they know you want it. For a detailed account of my race, go to: http://lancetritrain.blogspot.com/

  • Comments: I have done this twice now but I dont think that I will be back. There are just too many other races out there that I would like to see. This course is convenient given how close it is to home but the roads are a mess and for long stretches there is just too much car traffic.

  • Comments: Keith Jordan does it right. What an amazing event. With the exception of the thorns in the transition area, which they cannot control, and the cold front, it was perfect. The aid stations were well placed and fully stocked. The volunteers were amazing. Race shirts were OK. A little boring but still nice KSwiss tech shirts. Got hats at the finish line which was a nice touch. The medals were really nice to. If I was to race a HIM again, I would do this one again in a second.
