Comments: Set out to beat my time from last year, which I did by almost 3min (mostly in the swim and trans, ride and run times were almost identical to last year). Last year I had a solid 8 weeks of training after a strong hockey season before this race, this year I have been quite sick, and last fortnight was the first 2 consecutive training weeks I have had in about 3 months.
Given all of that, I think I am in a better position this year than last at this time, I think i hit my peak too early last year (about 4 weeks out from busso) so hopefully the sickness has been a blessing in disguise, getting some coaching and a personalised plan this year, taking long service leave and focusing more on the quality of my training.
All in all I am happy with this race, and has given me some confidence for the season ahead.
