  • Comments: Now that's outta the way I'm really looking forward to some hard bike and swim training (maintenance mode since the end of last tri season). I'm gonna cut a little run mileage but keep the key workouts. I feel like I've found a balance between new fatherhood, work, and triathlon. So I'm really looking forward to this race season. Ideally I'd like to get 3-4 half irons, some Oly's, and a few sprints in there. I think I'll wait till 2012 for another full iron, although I have been approached about Vineman Full. I'm still on the fence with that one though.

  • Comments: This is a very well organized race for being hosted by a local running club. My one and complaint is that I could have used 1 or 2 more water stations. Aside from that, I give big props to the organizers!

  • Comments: There were plenty of volunteers. The course felt safe and it was pretty with the snow everywhere. I am not sure it would have been such a pretty course without the snow. I thought there could have been a few more water stations and energy drinks provided. The food at the end was unappealing, except for the gummy bears.

  • Comments: The course was flat flat flat – perfect for my first half marathon. It did get a bit monotonous, but my body couldn’t have handled any hills, so I was grateful to at least have company for the entire run. The volunteers were awesome, especially since it was freezing temps. I was at the back of the BOP and made sure to thank them all for staying for us stragglers. And whoever baked all of those cookies did a fantastic job!

  • Comments: Race included two out-and-backs, the first of which headed farther into the park and then back out to the starting line for 3 miles. This gave you an opportunity to clothes drop if needed. It was fun seeing friends ahead of and behind you over the course.

  • Comments: This is a no-frills race. Only a couple of hundred runners...mostly pretty serious/fast runners. No hoopla...finishers medals were for first timers only and they were left overs from 2005 which was pretty lame. The posted course map showed port-o-potties at miles 5,7, and at the last turn around but they only had them at the start/finish. I saw several people heading for the bushed along the way. But there was plenty of volunteers handing out water and the course was well marked. It started on time and was efficient. At the finish they handed out bottled water and there was a tent where you could get a couple of homemade cookies or a baggie of pretzels, or gummie bears. There was one sponsor, Fit Right NW that had a tent but that was it. Saw lots of familiar faces from the club and everyone was really nice and helpful.
