Comments: Had a equipment failure today which shortened our ride for the day. Five or six miles outside of Waverly, the first morning rest stop, the front derailure cable broke on the tandem. We waited along the side of the road for about 45 min for a SAG which to us and the bike forward to the next rest stop at Chillicothe where we had the bike repaired and continued our ride after eating our lunch. NW winds picked up at the day went on. Very windy again after we left Circleville on our way to Columbus for the final 30 miles. Rough going again fighting the winds. Arrive in Columbus about 3:30 PM.
Comments: Very strong NW winds. I think it had to be the windiest TOSRV ever. Really rough going. This year we had a route detour around a bridge that was out that added 8 miles to the daily total for a total of 113 miles per day instead of the usual 105 each day. Detour was between Chillicothe and Waverly. Ann and I's longest riding day ever along with a PR for miles riden in one day too. We were thankful that it was sunny and we were dry even though we had to battle the high winds.
