  • Comments: Yes I messed up. Yes, this is no way a personal best (although my bike ride was stellar). I still enjoyed myself and proved that I can perform in any weather. This will go down as one of my favourite accomplishments and one of my biggest disappointments at the same time. It was a good day for me. I really felt like I belonged.

  • Comments: The night before the race I started putting my race kit together. I was a little stressed. I usually do this two nights in advance. I very quickly realized that there was little to put together. I was surprised. I must be becoming a veteren. I thought about this. Packing and planning was so automatic. I had a phenomenal race. My time and placing wasn't where I hoped, but my performance and my feeling exceeded my expectations. The weather was great, the racers and volunteers were fantastic. This was a good race.

  • Comments: For my first race it was great. I now have one under my belt. Onwards and upwards. I have an Olympic race on July 19th that I'm now going to prepare for... The results area at: http://www.resultscanada.com/results2009/2009_IceBreakerTriathlon/2...

  • Comments: It was good. I liked it for my firs time out. At some point my HR reached 195 BPM, which I never felt Like I was reaching my HRmax, ,but Apparently I did, because I was supposed to be at 189 NPM. So I will adjust my training accordingly and try to get more out of it. Lessons Learned: 1) Don't Forget your Bike Shoes 2) Rest your Cycle computers Distance Setting/Odometer 2) Drink More Water on the Bike 3) Push harder on the bike and don't be intimidated by the "triathletes" 4) COUNT YOUR LAPS 5) Push harder on the run no matter what 6) Findout if Transition Time gets added, because if I try to hammer through my transition time to get out there fast while others take their time to recover, then why am I killing myself? Next Year I'll aim for 1:23:17 It was fun!

  • Comments: As I was telling my husband BEFORE I got second in women's overall...I thought this race was extraordinarily well organized. The rules were well outlined, the bike course was extremely well-marshalled, the volunteers were fantastic, the events were on time (if not a little early), the post race meal was fantastic and the other competitors were enthusiastic and courteous. The first-place female competitor was quite gracious. My swim lane group was marvelously courteous.

  • Comments: My strategy was to survive the swim, go like a demon on the bike and then hold on for the run. What did I do? I bettered my swim time by a minute. I was in the top twenty on the bike course I ran my fastest ever 5k. I blew the strategy out of the water! What did I learn? I can do this speed stuff too. And I don't need all those gels and drinks, at least at this distance. Thanks to Starcorp for his tutelage and his encouragement! He was in Vancouver doing his first Marathon! Last year I finished in 1:40:51. I was 86/101 (20th/20AG) 17:56 swim, 49:52 bike, 33:04 run. Complete Race Results are here: http://www.resultscanada.com/results2008/2008_Ice_Breaker_Triathlon...
