  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: This was my second race overall. I had a wonderful time and got to meet a lot of new people. This was a huge event compared to my first race so it was a little overwhelming but I felt like I performed well under the circumstances. I was sad that the bike part was cut short, but I am glad I didn't do the olympic course since it sounded like it was miserable for them on the bike and the gusty winds. The sprint course was in a residential area so we were protected from the gusts of wind. Thanks to Keith and all the volunteers that made this a very enjoyable race.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: I suppose I am being hard on this race. They really tried hard to make it a positive experience. You can't beat the venue, the host hotel, or the organization of the pre-race. It felt like we were competing in an Ironman with the fancy bike check-in the day before and our small bags we were allowed to take in. Keith tried really hard to communicate with us via e-mail blasts, and I appreciated being kept in the loop about the race. I understand why the race went off late, and aside from messing up some of my hydration and nutrition timing, wasn't that upset about it. I thought the volunteers were great, particularly out on the bike course. (I said good morning to everyone!) I loved the Aid stations on the run, but really wished there was one more out there. The wind and heat were tough for us out-of-towners, and I just couldn't get enough water. My biggest complaint was with the run course. I understand that there wasn't much to be done with the bike course....but the run was

  • Comments: Super hard course. Oly even harder and hotter!! Very isolated finish (2?? mile walk back to car) so they should have provided more food. Oranges and gatoraide was all...no recovery food at all. Start/transition/finish very far appart so alot of walking. No athlete meeting so many of us were confused as to where and when we were suppost to be doing what. Lots of anxiety!!!!! Late start with no explaination. Volunteers were super.

  • Comments: Ok...here's the thing about this race. It was not as organized as I expected or would have hoped. They managed to pull it all off, but everything was done at the last minute. The silver lining is that next year, it will be an IronGirl Triathlon with 2000 women rather than 500. With IronGirl taking the helm, I know that next year's race will be much better, and they said the bike course would be different. We would ride out to Lake Mead and back, and it would not be as hard. The venue was absolutely beautiful!
