  • Comments: - Nice course, though the trail used for the return is slightly uneven and not wide enough for the number of people in the race; the path is nowhere near big enough for the number of people in the race plus the people in the 'fun walk' plus the people pushing their kids in strollers back to their cars against the flow of the race.... - These people were *not* coordinated. The race director was still in the middle of his pre-race spiel when the starter's horn went off. There was a balloon arch that was not only 50 yards past the start line, leading everyone to be (even more) bunched up at the beginning when we all had to turn around and go back to find the start, but was also 100 yards *before* the finish line. - I'm not sure I'd ever want to do a race timed by Runner's High (runhigh.com) again. The instant I crossed the line, someone asked me for my timing chip. I ignored him, but there was another about two feet behind him. I told him I needed to cool off. The fourth guy, about

  • Comments: The course was really nice, and the volunteers were mostly helpful and friendly. This race ballooned compared to last year -- there were more than double the number of runners, so the organizers couldn't really handle the volume. There were too many runners for the narrow trail, and things seemed pretty disorganized (the starting horn was blown while the pre-race lecture was still happening, they accidentally started all the runners at once and gave the walkers an incorrect route...) Also, the timing chip people were overly aggressive about getting their chips back, trying to stop people still in the finish chute and get the chip off their foot without even giving them a chance to cool down at all. That said, I did have a blast. The course was really nice for a Pittsburgh race -- very flat, which was good for my first 10k, and it was nice to go along the trails (although the trails really are not wide enough for the number of runners who participated -- bottlenecking was a bit of

  • Comments: This was a fun race and good practice for the Pgh tri in a month, especially since it was nearly the exact same course! It was nice to run with a friend, and to have no pressure to go fast. It really was just a fun practice run! The race itself was fantastic--the nicest volunteers, lots of great swag, and much bigger than I expected. Overall, a good time. I will gladly do this again next year!! :D
