  • Comments: All of Tejas Trails events are 5 star, absolutely the best. Joe is the best RD around, hands down. They are all logistically planned and run very well, and I always have a great time. This race in particular is the highlight of the year. There is a reason it sells out very quickly. If you haven't tried it, you really should! I can't recommend it enough.

  • Comments: This was a test for me. I've completed the Umstead 100 twice but Umstead is my home course. For several years I lived ~1.5 miles from there and ran it all the time. I wanted to know that I could complete 100 miles on a course other than Umstead and I wanted to know that I could do it on my own without having a trusted friend or pacer with me every step of the way. I definately succeeded at that. The race organization and volunteers were hands down the best I have ever experienced. That is hard for me to say that it was better then Umstead but I belive it was. I'm signed up for Umstead again this spring but after that I don't know if I'll do any more 100s. I really kind of like the 50 mile distance and may go back to some HIM or IM events.

  • Comments: Despite the minor hills and the roots, this race is considered one of the "easier" 100-milers. Don't be deceived, it'll still beat the hell out of you, but a very good runner can set a record on a good day. The RD and his stellar staff put on a race that cannot be beat as far as taking care of runners and making them successful. You cannot say enough good things about the job they do. After all, most of them stayed up all night also keeping us fed and going.

  • Comments: This is a very well run race. This is my second time here and I cannot say enough good things about the aid station staffs and RD. They are all experienced trail runners and really know how to take care of the athletes. The fact that this race draws world-class runners is a testament to the quality of the organization and its reputation. Edited later to add: 1. Wife's elbow update. No surgery required. There was a chipped bone. A motion control brace for 4-5 weeks and PT later. 2. Pics. #1 Timothy, me, & Karen at the finish, 5:45 am Sunday morning. #2 Typical raw ankle. You can't see the little blisters, but they're there. Almost 2 weeks later as I type this, the skin is peeling just like a sunburn.

  • Comments: I did not do well with the roots on this course but it really didn't appear to bother most. If you took away the roots then I would rate this course as easy but it is not a terain I am used to running. The race itself is great I just sucked in a particularly dramatic way that day.

  • Comments: This race was awesome! I highly recommend it to anyone! Great volunteers. They were vultures, just waiting for you to come into an aid station so that they could help you in some way. The aid stations had SO much food, anything you could imagine and if they didn't have it, well they had cooks that probably could have made it for you! This race is said to be one of the easier 100's. Now, like I said in my race report, I think that's because you don't have the climbing or harsh terrain that some of the other 100's might have where they almost become more hikes than runs. However, don't let it fool you, it's still 100 miles and in the end, this 'easy' course still go the best of me. They changed the course this year and I had thought nothing of it. However, the word from the veterans was this year was harder. The explanation that the winner made was that it was more single track and less jeep road this year. I had remembered looking at the old course map and it used to do an out
