  • Comments: The MS150 fundraisers are great events. It's a ride, not a race, and you'll see people of all abilities. But everyone there has the same purpose, and the general positive attitude is pervasive. I took it as a personal goal to ride the full 160mile course on Day 1 and still do the normal Day 2 ride. It worked out well for me, though I didn't get to enjoy all the team tents and afternoon festivities of Day 1. Do join a team if you do this -- it's great to see others with similar jerseys and share encouragement.

  • Comments: I've participated in 7 MS150 rides over the past several years. This is my first Frisco/DFW ride and it is by far the least organized of the lot. There were several little things that when put together add up to mean the event coordinator just wasn't on top of the right things. Lunch DJ was obnoxious for the intended crowd; several turns were poorly or unmarked; very heavy on the hills towards the end of day two meant disaster for beginner riders; finish line was uneventful even though the post-ride setup/event was great; tent sites were way off from the main area; dinner on day one didn't start until exactly 4pm which means finishing the ride hours earlier left you without access to food until then. These are a few of the items. I fully support the MS rides and will continue, however, I will think about marking this particular ride off my list.

  • Comments: After training with headwinds for all spring, Day 1 was a breeze. It was overcast, cool and we had a tailwind at the start. After lunch the winds shifted and we again had a tailwind most of the way in. My longest training ride was about 60 miles and I expected the last 20 of Day 1 to be a huge sufferfest BUT I was pleasantly surprised! Thanks to the tailwind that day, I got to mile 60 and was ready to really start riding. I decided to go ahead and add some miles add the end to try and make it a Day 1 century (partially b/c I had a feeling there would be no Day 2). Once we got to the end we began laps around TMS to get to 100. At the end of Lap2 (mile 92), it started sprinkling and we figured the clouds were finally about to let loose so we turned in to the finish. 5 minutes later they announced a Severe weather alert and began pulling people off the course. Around 4:30, Day 2 was cancelled as well. I was a little disappointed that Day 2 was cancelled so soon but it is what it is and I was

  • Comments: Plenty of volunteers - thanks to all the many people at all the breaks about 6 per day of race spaced about 10 to 15 miles apart.
