  • Comments: B2B was simply awesome. It had the environment of a WTC event without all the bullshit. I did IMFL in 2009 and can say that B2B was better than IMFL. It is big enough to have the excitement of a large event, but small enough so that the race can be enjoyed without huge lines and tons of drafting. I am glad that there are high quality alternatives to WTC races.

  • Comments: this was my 1st ironman and i thought the race was well organized especially given the logistics of T1, T2, etc. i plan to do this race again! i planned this race out as well as i could - my training, my nutrition, my clothing, etc. my execution of the plan was flawless - i had a very good day - no flats and no other equipment issues. everything that i encountered that day i was able to adapt, overcome and move on. there were no surprises and i was very lucky and fortunate. Finally - i could not have done this without the continual support of my lovely wife. her neverending support of my training, meals, laundry, early morning swims, late night rides and runs, constant crankiness, and the waves of anxiety and obession over every aspect of this race. she was my rock and she was with me every step of the way. we are a team and together we achieved this result.

  • Comments: My first Ironman and it was a success. I thought the course was great and well organized. If I wan't already scheduled to do Lake Placid Ironman in July of 2011 I would do Beach2Battleship again!

  • Comments: I didn't have the day I wanted so I'm probably going to come back and try again next year.. This race compares favorably with any other I've done in 7years of triathlon, and that includes mDot. B2B does not disappoint.

  • Comments: Set-up events did a good job. I had a great experience. Wilmington is a beautiful city and Wrightsville Beach is awesome. I would recommend this Iron-distance race to both beginner and pro.

  • Comments: Not just the best because i finished. this settign is great, the beach is fantastic, the bike course is flat but not boring and i enjoyed the run through the downtown area. Its size relative to an IM made it very enjoyable and there is a lot for spectators to do while the bikers are off in the wilderness.

  • Comments: I really like this race. Jeremy and Set Up Events did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend this race to others. The volunteers were awesome and I thought it was well-organized. The only two complaints I have were that I thought there could be more buoys on the swim course (and I wish we weren't told to turn at the Wiggly Man) and that last portion of the bike course coming over the bridge when we were forced onto the shoulder and there were a ton or cars didn't make me feel very safe.

  • Comments: this was a fantastic race by Setup events. Pros: plenty of excited volunteers that were very helpful great community support, esp during the run in downtown Wilmington Areas that could be improved: possibly 1 more aid station on bike course after mile 50 more than 1 port-a-potty @ aid stations. more lighting on the run course, esp by the park.

  • Comments: Great Race, and setup did a great job, but there has to be a better way to get out of the finish than just the boats across the river. We had to stand in line for 45 minutes waiting to catch a boat.

  • Comments: Setup Events is awesome. This race is logistically about as complicated as can be, and yet they pulled it off beautifully. I heard a few people whining about 'lack of support' on the bike. Huh? Grow up! It's ironman (er...'iron distance'). I think there were 5 aid stations on the bike for crying out aloud. So stop crying. If I do another 140.6, this race will be high on my list. The quality to price ratio is very very high.

  • Comments: This is a well organized race for competitors but not for support crew/families. The waits on the shuttles were very long (Becky said it was 45 mins all day long- every time she tried to take the water taxi) and I don't like the complication of a point-to-point race. Too many baggies, etc. It worked well, but it was a lot to think about. Setup did a great job and the volunteers were truly amazing- the best I have ever come across. They were so enthusiastic! Overall I am disappointed in the overall result but not terribly so, if that makes any sense- that run was less than I hoped for, esp. with the nice runs in training. Still, 12:38 is not too far from my goal and barring the knee, would have been well within reach. I coujnt myself really lucky to have been given the opportunity to do this, to train for it, fuss about it, obsess about it for a while and carry it out. Thanks family! :-) The swim was MUCH harder than expected and the wind on the bike was rough at times. But, on the

  • Comments: One last word about Setup Events and the Beach2Battleship triathlon. This was my first Iron distance event, but certainly not my first triathlon. To date, this is the best run event that I've seen with excellent support from the company that runs it and the most fantastic set of volunteers I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. There were two volunteers for every three athletes and it showed. I would highly recommend this race for anyone looking to do their first full or half-Ironman event and would also urge anyone interested in their other venues (Setup presents approximately 150 events per year) to consider doing those as well.

  • Comments: Swore I would never do another iron distance race after this one, but that is the same thing I said after doing IMLP back in July. Could hardly walk after the race and that was the case until Tuesday, but now I am feeling much better. Could kick myself for not going at least 8:01 faster.

  • Comments: I will say that I am more proud of this race than my first IM. When you get hit in the mouth and knocked down you can either get up and fight or call it a day. Honestly, I had always thought I would call it a day if something like that happened to me. I was thrilled that I had the fight in me to continue. I believe I learned lessons from this race that I will take with me throughout my life and they will make me a better person.

  • Comments: I know this is only the second year of the race, but I was very disappointed by the spectator support. There was suppose to be a competition between the aide stations for most spirited but that wasn't really evident. The race course was not well lit. However I can't speak to the finish or the bike course. My overall impression was this wasn't any different than any other Setup olympic or half distance race. I thought their only full would have more hype. I recorded my personal story not as a plea for pitty, but I hope as an inspiration to others. Choosing to quit was the hardest thing I have ever done but now that I've had time to look back it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I've learned so much about myself, both mentally and physically, about what and Ironman distance takes, and how much I want IMCA 2011. I am more focused and determined than ever and I will NEVER experience this again. COURAGE ISN'T ALWAYS A LION'S ROAR. SOMETIMES IT IS THE HEART AT THE

  • Comments: Overall I loved this event as a racer but there are still issues that need to be worked on. Having time splits with T1 and the bike put together seems like a major snafu, not to mention running out of coke on the run. The post race food wasn't very good either. I guess the waits were better then in 2008, but there were a ton of folks walking across the bridge from the HIM as the waits must have been kinda of bad. We didn't want to get stuck waiting on got my stuff and took the trolley back. I would've liked to hang out and root some folks on, but with our rental house along the run course knew we could do it from there and eat some real food. I was impressed that they seemed to do a good job of moving bags and the overall organization of the race. For spectators its not all that easy to get around with the boats and trolleys. The race photos shown below were of poor quality and I feel like I was ripped off. Don't bother with them and have a friend or loved one get some

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race. No only because it was my first IM, but the setup was a bit different which mixed it up. The run on Front Street was tough because the road was not even, so you really had to watch your step. Other than that, I give it two thumbs up. I WILL be back, and try to break this time.
