  • Comments: IMLP 2014 sold out by 9pm on the day after. I'm going to stick to 70.3s for a while, but it was good to check this off the bucket list. Very organized and the swim start was as good as could be expected. Check out the coach patrick youtube videos 1-5 on the course overview. that was helpful for planning. visit in June to scout the course and do Wilmington Whiteface 100km. Rent in Jay, it is quieter out there.

  • Comments: Happy that I completed my first Ironman but I know that I can do better based on my physical ability. I know my body and I know that I could have done 13-13:30. Upset that I was sick and that I had to pee/poop so damn much!

  • Comments: if you are contemplating doing this race - just do it! the hills and the pot holes are more than overcome by the amazing scenery, the town, the volunteers, the atmosphere, and the most beautiful swim you will have do. I came home completely refreshed and found it to be the most lovely vacation I have had in a very, very long time because of how relaxing the surroundings were. this IS the race to do!

  • Comments: I'd like to come back, but it won't be 2013. IMLP is a special place, that is for sure. I got to the starting line healthy, but undertrained due to some knee injuries, and most important to me, I finished Ironman #2. Great learning experience overall too.

  • Comments: Thanks to my cousin and his family who came up to watch the race. Sorry I wasn't able to provide the epic finish at your first IM viewing, but it was great having you there. I'm glad to hear the girls (and their parents) were inspired by the event anyway. Thanks to the Simmons for hosting us in the days following the race, and to my mom for always traveling with me and spending hours ringing that cowbell.

  • Comments: A very special day for me. Completing it with (ok after) my wife along with seeing so many family and friends along the course was amazing. Not sure if any race can ever top this. To many family and friends to name, but they all kept my spirits up for the whole race.

  • Comments: A very challenging course for sure but I liked it better than IMFL. It was beautiful and the crowd support rocks! This race was a good test of mental fortitude - I so did not want to run but I knew I wouldn't quit. A few days before the race while chatting w/ my Dad, I told him how nervous I was. He looked at me and hugged me and said "You should be nervous. It's a lofty goal and it's gonna be tough. I'd be worried if you weren't nervous." It's interesting to find out where "your line" is. Some folks pulled themselves out due to fatigue, some pull out if they don't make their planned splits, others battle it out to the bitter end. I know where I am and Im proud of that. Never will I qualify but never will I quit.

  • Comments: for my first Ironman I couldn't expect anything better (well maybe a bit quicker on the run). I was so happy to be able to compete! a 7 mile run was my longest run 6 weeks before the race because I didn't run for 3 weeks. The 3 weeks should have been my peak running weeks, but I coudln't because of my ankle. 6 weeks prior to the race I ran 16 miles. I used the elliptical for 2 weeks, but it's def. not the same as running. I really think all the biking saved my fitness! Can't wait for the next one!

  • Comments: I think the race was awesomely set up, very organized, and the amount of volunteer support/cheering was amazing. I at least learned about what I'm capable at swimming and biking for this distance, and I also think that fitness-wise I was where I wanted to be. So I can now go into a full IM next year and know what 2/3 of the race is like.

  • Comments: The level of organization exceeded my expectations. All volunteers were professional and kept me going at each stage. I was blown away at the finish when a volunteer walked me to get my medal, blanket, picture, food.. all the while asking and reasking if was ok / needed assistance from medical. I felt like there was no excuse other than my own ability for completign the race.
