  • Comments: Again, this was my first triathlon, so it was by far the best. It was not as hard as I thought it would be, really the only place I suffered was on the run. I was careful to take the experience for what it was and not focus on performance. This race was to gain experience under real life circumstances for mass Open water swims and transitions under the clock in preparation for my big race (Pinehurst, Oct 1 - Oly). I have a super sprint and perhaps another sprint between now and Oct. Running Mission Man was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

  • Comments: Race is well supported. If not for the tough run course I would give it a 5. The best thing about this race was finally getting to meet up with Jeff Bostic (jkbostic), Denise (BonBonNeaser) and family. We had a great time just hanging out. I have met so many awesome folks in this sport and Jeff and Denise rank up at the top. It was really cool to have all our kids there as well. Hopefully some of the discipline and camraderie will get passed on to them from our involvement. I was not so happy with my race but felt great afterwards anyway.

  • Comments: A very well run race - I would recommend it to anyone. Set-up did a great job with everything. Two suggestions for next year - rope off the pavement between the TA transition to the trail for the beginning of the run course. WAY too many people were wandering around in the way of the athletes who were starting out on the run. Second - it would have been nice for another 3-5 feet of road to run on - since we shared the road with the bikers it had the potential to be dangerous, but just a little more pavement for the run would have been mich nicer.

  • Comments: Met Fred Carter (fcarter389) and his wonderful family. Found out what the 389 stands for, but I'm not telling...you have to pester him about that yourself. What a great guy! He's a trip too. I couldn't believe when I looked at his leg and saw 40 years old...he looks like he's about 28. LOL! Nice race Fred! Mission Man was special to me in many ways. The reason above all others is that this race was the race that got me into this crazy sport. I remember sitting in my Lazy Boy on a Sunday morning last July and just happened to notice this tri written up in the paper. It was this moment that I realized that there are other tri distances out there other than the ironman distances. I was chubby and out of shape and could drink a whole hell of a lot more beer than I can now. Anyway...happy the direction life has taken after this article. Hell...I know you all now. What could be better???? This is my last planned sprint for 2005. I'm kind of sad that this part of my racing
