  • Comments: I am just so happy that I was able to finish. This was one of my toughest races mentally...having to fight the hills, the wind, the cramping, and seat pain. There were many times when I did not know if I would be able to finish. It is a great race and I really love the scenery. While riding thru the countryside, I saw a baby calf that had just been born. I didn't see the birth but it had just happened b/c the calf was still wet and had not even stood up yet. That was really cool. The ONLY negative of this race was that there is no after party at all. No food, drinks, nothing. There is not even an actual finish line. You just ride into the start area and then that is it. You ride back to your car and the ride is over. I know it allows the charity to get more money without that stuff, but it would've been nice to have a little something. I think I pushed a little too hard, as it is now the next day and I've got some knee pain in both knees.

  • Comments: I am going back and typing this b/c I didn't know how to do all this when I first entered this race. This was my first ever bike ride, and it was one to forget. I wasn't ready for the hilly-ness and actually braked going downhill at times b/c I was not comfortable yet going very fast. I ended up getting 2 flats (found out later my rim tape had slid off to one side inside the wheel and there was a sharp edge tearing up my tubes). I only brought one spare, but a wonderful girl stopped and offered me her only spare tube for my 2nd flat. It was a nice race though and the scenery was great. Going to do it again in 09 and will do a longer distance and will let'er rip on the downhills!!

  • Comments: I recommend this ride to anyone who loves riding through a beautiful state park. There are plenty of short steep and long slow climbs throughout the ride. It's also great training for the MS, since it goes through one of the toughest sections of that ride.
