  • Comments: This was probably the one and only time in my life I'll ever finish first! I was in the first heat and was probably sixth out of the pool. Passed everyone in front of me outbound on the bike and was alone the rest of the race. Pretty cool feeling to cross the finish line first. Of course, less than 5 minutes after I finished some dude from the second heat that started about 15 minutes after me came rolling through. Oh well. Cold and miserable weather, and the bike was legitimately tough with the wind, but reasonably well organized (a big improvement from last year, apparently). Will likely do again next year as the wife is an alum and she enjoyed getting back to campus.

  • Comments: Heard another person describe the race as "quaint and rustic." It is pretty ambitious for a fraternity to put on a charity traithlon, but it showed that this was a first race. There was no organization to the transition area and plenty of confusion among the athletes before the race. The pre-race meeting left questions unaddressed. A few more volunteers and course markings would have been good. Considering it was their first race they did well, but I doubt I'll do it again.
