  • Comments: This race was a tester for me. Last 2 weeks have been crazy. Couldn't get in a good chunk of training. I was even considering scratching the race because the drive was far away, and I didn't want to wake up early. I knew this wasn't going to be my best race, but considering how busy things have been and the lack of training, I'll take it. So I am definitely not in race shape, but it's just all the more a good reminder to be really consistent in the training from here onto IMAZ.

  • Comments: Nice race. Lovely carton of local strawberries to finishers. Just wish the course distances--especially the bike--were accurate to the Olympic standard.

  • Comments: At Breath of Life there were so many people that I knew and got a lot of support on the course. At this race, it was 5x more...lol. I can't even tell you how many times I heard "Go Dusty". Shit, I didn't even know where it was coming from half the time. One guy yelled it from a car as I was going over the bridge on the bike. This is so cool. I met so many people like Trheado from here as well as tons of people that just came up and introduced themselves to me. So awesome. As always I need to thank the "team" that I surround myself with in order to progress in my training. My Sponsors, 101 Pipe & Casing, Inc. / Kurt Orban Partners LLC / K Swiss / Wins Wheels. Of course my spectacular coach Brian Stover who is going through some tough times right now...this one was definitely for him. Stay strong coach...also, Fortius Racing Team with so much support I can't even convey. They were all over the place cheering and getting me through...CVMM..have to thank Nancy and the entire CVMM team for

  • Comments: Overall a great race. I'm probably gonna make this a staple even though there were a lot of fast people in this race. It's at a good time of the year and it's low key and flat and generally a very fun race. It was great having my sister run it with me and her friend, and my older sister and her husband and our parents to cheer us along. This is a very spectator friendly course. Two loops on the bike means two sightings and the way the run was laid out with two laps and a two loop backs it worked out to like 6 run sightings. Very fun day. Plus a big box of Strawberries as the post race fruit (for those of us who don't like bananas).

  • Comments: Fun, it was nice to be able to finish while the finish line was still up and there were people in the expo. It was also great to have friends/teammates racing with me this time. Knocked almost an hour off my time from last year. Way to go me!!!

  • Comments: This was as close to a perfect race as you can get from a planning and execution aspect. Everything went exactly how I planned. I will continue to train and get faster and start bringing the times down. I had a goal on my blog of sub 2:20:00 Olympic which I am not going to cross off as this race had a very short bike course. So I'll leave that up until I complete one with the correct distances. Next Olympic isn't for a while. I have a longer race in August ( 1 x 34 x 10 ) that I am building to.

  • Comments: Generally a nice event. Decent expo. Flat course. Only things I'd like to see change: More post race food options (they had only strawberries and cookies), along with water and cocoanut water. And a bit more accuracy with regard to the bike course distance. Bad enough to call an event an "Olympic" with a course that is shorter than the Olympic standard (call it an "international" then), but to have the course come up more than two miles short of what is announced is unacceptable, IMO.

  • Comments: Overall I was not off to a good start. I was surprised I didn't bonk without proper nutrition pre race. Although during the race I had 3 hammer gel servings and two HEED drinks. Looking forward to beating these times real soon. Also prob didn't go all out due to hernia. Felt like I had a lot of energy left afterwards.
