  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: Race course for swim (I was 10 min faster on swim here than at my other olympic tri, as were my 3 friends) and bike (advertised 40km, actually 23.68 miles) are both very short. This would be fine except they pretend the course is correct and say, "Great course to make a PR." This is misleading. Bike has 3 turnarounds for Olympic and tons of bikers -- constantly having to pass. Multiple people I know had timing chip failures and when submitted for correction the time placed was incorrect by 20 minutes. There was a train and they just adjusted people's time in an ad-hoc way on site but if you didn't hear the announcement, your time not adjusted. I was listed on line as 1st in age group but announced as 2nd -- probably the train? Or not knowing that one girl was elite and counting her in my age group? I'm thinking to skip this next year for these reasons.

  • Comments: I don't drink beer so would have rather had a medal than a growler as my prize.

  • Comments: While it was cool to swim under and then run over my favorite bridge in Portland, I didn't love the scenery on the bike course. Otherwise, a pretty nice race. The fees were steep, though, which might make me think twice about doing this race next year. (The free swag from the packet pickup was pretty great, though!)

  • Comments: Good race, odd run venue, wish they could get a lane in the street, and don't understand why they can't as they use the same street as the Portland Marathon. Will most likely do this race again in 2013, if I don't do Leadman instead.

  • Comments: Even though this event had to move from its previous location, I thought it was very organized and well run. Would do it again.

  • Comments: 65/81 women... I loved this race. Each course was just right in terms of challenge vs. ease. Only complaint was they needed orange/yellow or different colored buoys for the swim - on overcast day the water reflects gray... and with white buoys they were really difficult to sight on. The swag was awesome (especially the finisher steel bottle - way better than medal!). The volunteers were great. Wasn't too into the post-race fixins as my appetite was completely gone - I didnt even go for a beer I was that shattered. I was looking forward to some gelato though - where was it? Gone? :( Great race, fantastic conditions, highly recommend and will be doing it again next year. Great training race for me. Hopefully I can get this hamstring/hip issue under control and I'll be ready for Black Diamond.
