Comments: This was a good first-time local event that I hope catches on. I decided to do this event out of peer pressure from my friends. I hadn't done a duathlon and it had been three years since my last triathlon (Buffalo Springs Lake Triathlon 70.3), so I was not prepared for the event in any way. All my runs over the previous three years included walk breaks every few minutes, no matter the distance, since I was mainly training for ultras (50 milers). But since this event was local and I had friends doing it, I threw my name in to just see what I could do. Even though my run times were slow, I was pleased with my finish time. I was also pleased that I was able to run the first 5K without a walk break. I was also pleased with my bike time even though I was on a mountain bike. The second run was just horrible, from a time standpoint and on how I felt. But after crossing the finish, I felt surprisingly fresh.
