  • Comments: There is no doubt this was the hardest Ironman I've done. I've heard the DNF rate was at 28%. I know the women's field was only 18% and in looking at the finishers stats, it looks like only 47% of the women finished with the remainder being DNF or DNS. It was an amazingly challenging experience that I wouldn't trade. And I don't regret signing up to do it one bit.

  • Comments: This course is the most beautiful course of all that I have done. It is challenging, but not so bad they should stop hosting the full ironman. The volunteers and spectators were also the best I have ever met. There was not one angry driver on the course. The gear bag and finisher gear was awesome. The athletes breakfast on Sunday was fabulous also.

  • Comments: As always I had difficulty sleeping that night as the race played over in my mind and my sore body never could get comfortable. I woke up at 4:00am and made coffee. Mom and I headed down to the Kona slot allocation at 7:00 and I paid the WTC piper for my entry. We went home and packed and then returned for the awards. I had great time hanging with my Zoot teammates and was very interested to meet Randy. After being called up on stage, he and I spoke about the race. I told him I had no idea he was coming up like that and all he knew was that he was chasing someone in a ZOOT kit but there was 5 of us within 2 miles of each other for most of the race! So I was camouflaged by my team. So I have my third opportunity to go back and race in Kona and I am very much looking forward to it. My last time there in 2010 wasn't the best day and I wasn't in good form. I think my coach and I have come up with a plan that can bring me to that start line healthy, rested, and very fit. We'll see. In the

  • Comments: Summary Would I do it again? Well, there won’t be another full Ironman in St. George so the point is moot. Still, there will be a 70.3 race next year, but I would say it is unlikely I will go back for that either. The timing in early May is not great for me personally and the course is damn hard. Even though I could physically manage the proposed course in a respectable time, there are half-ironman races only 2 hours away or less from where I live. The only race that I am officially signed up for is Ironman Arizona in late November so I will be able to have a nice short training break. I’m glad I got in on the legendary St. George Ironman course, but I’m also damn happy not to have to do it again.

  • Comments: I am very happy I was able to do St George before they moved it to a 70.3. It was a great FIRST. The day wasn't perfect but it WAS everything I hoped it would be.

  • Comments: I really liked St. George. The volunteers were great and the race was very well organized. It's a bummer that they have to cancel the IM, but I'm seriously considering coming back for the 70.3. I'm glad I did the race. It was a tough day and while I can't say I'm pleased with my finish time, I'm proud to have made it through that swim and ridden that bike course. The run - eh - I'll come back and check it out at the 70.3 next May.
