  • Comments: This race and especially the swim really pushed me to my limits. I have never considered quitting a race before this one. I was able to pull through and finish. I heard people saying that the water was so cold it was dangerous and that the swim portion should have been cancelled. Many people were treated for hypothermia and taken to the hospital. I don't know about cancelling it. The swim is my best segment so if it was cancelled I would be at a disadvantage, but safety should come first. I'm glad I didn't have to make that call. The race director has no control over the water temperture. Improvements for this race (other than a big heater for the water) would be different colored bouys for the turns and water tube to run through in T1. Other than that, this race was well put together.
