  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: I went home and showered, iced all my joints, had a glass of Pinot Noir, took a two hour nap, and in the early evening went for about a 1.5 mile walk with my sister. I swore after finishing that maybe I had made a mistake registering for the full. However after my recovery I was as determined as ever. Also after swearing off the HIM distance, I had already registered for another one that evening.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: First time doing this race, I did it because I heard it was tough. Will be back again since it is such a challenging course. As the RD said this is not a Starbucks HIM, It is old school. I kind of liked it that way, not as glitzy as Galveston but still very well organized.

  • Comments: The volunteers were the bomb. Plenty of stuff on the course. Wetsuit strippers rocked it, and all the drink givers were amazing. The course is a bit cramped and not too good for spectators. This is only my 2nd IRONMAN (logo) race and comparing it to Oceanside is just not right as O'side just kills it in the fun factor. The finish chute had participants dragging their families down the chute (one dude did it right in front of me, which is cool, but geez, I thought that was against the rules), the finisher shirts were just layed on a table and the volunteers there were just talking and ignoring athletes as they walked by. I did not see any food or drink after. Maybe they hid it or it was all gone as I was too slow. I understand the area to have the Transition and end of event area is cramped, but it was so small, I missed it I guess. There needs to be people herding athletes around to where they need to go (like O'side) as we aren't really paying attention to what we should be doing.

  • Comments: Really like the Hawaiian aid station on the run, it was very cool. Overall a very good experience and I may do it again, but it doesn't have the same vibe as lets say Boise, but better than Lake Stevens.

  • Comments: The volunteers were in abundance and were all really great. The organization and execution of the entire event was also great, kudos to the Mike and Marti Greer. It’s a challenging course, I can only imagine what it would be like on a 100+ degree day. It’s a WTC and IM-branded event, but has a local race feel to it. I really like both the cotton t-shirt and finisher’s tech shirt. I have a lot to learn, but for it being my first HIM I was happy with the result.

  • Comments: We started just about 10 minutes late because of early morning storms which moved the buoys around a bit. This is an awesome venue. Lots of variety on both the run and the bike. Aide stations well stocked, and there was even ice between a couple of the aide stations. There's plenty of challenge to be had here as well. Some hills, some flat, some wind - Something for everyone. The Greer's put on a very well organized race.

  • Comments: Walking the bike and gear back up bike hill #1 (8% grade) after just completing a HIM was a total kick in the shorts. Please rent 2-3 golf carts for volunteers to drive participants and gear back to the parking area.
