  • Comments: What a great race! I didn't have a great training plan for this race (read: no training plan) and I probably wouldn't have been able to follow it if I did since work had been so crazy lately. I was stoked to finish this race and can't wait to tackle my next half Iron distance...hopefully with a swim this time. • Comments: I would have preferred a triathlon to train for Ironman but there was nothing we could do about the condition in the lake that day. This race helped affirm that my training is coming along and that I have some more work to do, especially on the bike, but if I stay the course I should be ready for Ironman come 11-20-11. This race reminded me why I love triathlon...err...duathlon so much! There are so many great people who I have met and the camaraderie that I get to share with them makes for an amazing event. It doesn't matter if they are the speediest age grouper or the last to cross the finish line when you stand together in transition pre race you all share the same nervous energy. We all bring different expectations and different training to the table but it doesn't change the fact that we each have some sort of expectation in our own minds about the day in front of us. Then when you are on the course these same people might be fighting their demons or having the race of their

  • Comments: Start was delayed due to an accident on the bike course, and the swim had already been canceled due to lake conditions after a rain storm. None of this was the organizer's fault, and they did a great job of working through the challenges to put on a great race. Post-race seemed kind of anti-climactic, as some of the staff were just hanging out and they were already tearing down the sprint and oly transition areas, which always makes me feel like I was too slow for their expectations. Post-race food provider had nothing in their chafing dishes, so we just moved on through and over to transition, which was a bit disappointing. However, I like the race group and will be attending several of their events.

  • Comments: Really wish that the swim would have happened but after I was pissed for about 10 minutes, I got over it and accepted the 5K start.
