  • Comments: I like this race and can't blame them for the weather. I do wish that they had made a decision earlier about cancelling the swim. It was pretty obvious on Saturday that they were going to have to but didn't make the decision (publicly) until right before the start of the race. I also wish there had been a bottle hand up on the bike course. I had space to carry enough but it would have been nice to have had less weight on the bike and been able to get fluids mid ride. I would absolutely do this race again though.

  • Comments: Good, but not great race from an organizational perspective. When I first rolled up to Moody Gardens, there were no signs as where to go. Given the storms, there was a lot of questions regarding what parts of the race were going to happen, but communication from the RD was lacking. The Expo and the after-party was very weak - I expected a little more for something associated with WTC. Race club tents were not allowed, leaving the after party looking barren. On the plus side, the course was well marked and there was a lot of volunteers. The location at Moody Gardens makes for a nice destination race. It is nice to walk downstairs from your hotel room to the start.

  • Comments: Not a fan of the race management here. Maybe I'm just spoiled because all the RDs I've dealt with in the past, both local and national, have been very responsive. This RD sucked. The communication about the swim status was horrible. From what I understand from a few friends looking to volunteer they received nothing back on their inquiries. Nothing started on time. They had considered cancelling the swim for 24 hours at least prior to the race. To not have a contingency plan to get things started on time and not seem like they were flying by the seat of their pants is crazy. Just disappointed that they didn't seem to have their stuff together.
