  • Comments: So-so end-of-the-season race. If you are looking for a destination race with warm weather and a good atmosphere, I would choose Cozumel over Los Cabos. However, if you are comfortable racing in the heat, and are in the 10:00-10:30 IM range, KQ is achievable. 40 spots went to 345 participants. However, due to DNF & DNS, only 269 people crossed the finish line. 40/269 = 14.87% - These are pretty good odds to get to Kona....much better than any other NA race.

  • Comments: The aid stations had lots of eager volunteers but there was a lack of gels on the bike and many run stations lacked ice. There was no fresh water to rinse off at swim finish and my feet were very sandy in T1. They were all out of large finisher shirts so I took an extra large which fit well in the body but the sleeves were too short. Also, I had to go back to the athlete registration area twice before the race because they did not have the wrist bands available when I checked in. All-in-all, not nearly as well organizes as my other races.

  • Comments: Great race with so-so organization. A lot of conflicting information, but still well worth the price of admission. I would gladly try this race again! My one year couch to Ironman training plan led to great success, not just in this race, but also in the quality of life. A year ago I hadn't even done a triathlon, and today I'm an Ironman. What an awesome experience!

  • Comments: Volunteers amazing! Food selection on course was not very good. Needed an energy bar at each station.

  • Comments: This is an awesome race and Ironman Mexico did a great job putting on the Inaugural event. This is easily the most difficult Ironman Course I've raced, but also enjoyed the most (only second to my PR in Western Australia). Despite the toughness of the course this is definitely a race I would do again.

  • Comments: I think it being the inaugural race, it didn't have the following that other, more established races have. It was fun though. I like warm, and it was all of that. The water temp was good, the outside temp was good, and there were lots of spectators cheering people on (which is good). I don't think I'd do this one again, but for my first one, it was great. I heard there were a lot of people that dropped out, that's what I heard. I think they might have dropped out during the bike, that was kind of hard. Everything else ...is what it is.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: This race is ok if you live in a city where you can train outdoors year round. Being that I left snow and -26 C (-15 F) and landed in 36 C (96 F) and raced ironman 36 hours later I wasn't exactly acclimated. For me, it was just too tough of a course to perform with any gusto but I was not alone. I finished in !5:48 and was still 810/1336. Apparently 400+ dropped out due to tough swim and bike conditions.
