  • Comments: Big shout out to all the volunteers, especially those out on the run course. I know it was welcome sight to see you guys out in the middle of the desert. Overall, this was a long and tough course. I'm glad I put the amount of training into this one, because I needed it. Post race, it was really easy to focus on all the negatives, but when I look back on it, I'm pretty proud of my accomplishments.

  • Comments: A great and organized race by Lifetime... lots of fun. Thanks to the volunteers and congrats to all competitors. It's a tough distance and race. Overall, I improved my time by just over 23 minutes from 5:05 last year and 15th place to 4:41 and 4th place, and 8th place overall. I was really hoping for a podium spot, but some damn fine athletes showed up, especially swimming. The WTF moment is that the 45-49 AG was the fastest overall of all age groups!!

  • Comments: Loved this race! This was a b/c race for me, in prep for St George in 3 weeks, but I really enjoyed the race and will do it again.

  • Comments: Red Rock does a great job, and although I think many of us would have liked one more aid station on the bike, they did a great job on the run considering the course and difficulty getting support in certain places.

  • Comments: This race was awesome!!!! Plenty of volunteers and finally something for the kids to do!!!! Really wished I could have done a race before this just to get the rust off, but, is what it is. I did a poor job of removing negative thoughts during the race. In the end, this was a great, challenging race! Loved the run course, medal, kidszone, and food afterwards. This was definitely the hottest long race I've done so far.

  • Comments: Red Rock and Lifetime did a fantastic job with this event. Things were organized, and the course was well marked for people doing all distances. Aid stations were well manned with enthusiastic volunteers and well stocked with cold beverages throughout a long, hot day. The packet included a book, a visor, a nice shirt, a transition mat, and a couple of Leadman stickers. The finisher's medal is really cool - black stony edge texture, square with silver lettering. Worth a long day in the heat.

  • Comments: The volunteers were great!!! let me say this first, THANK YOU!!! OVerall, I have a bad taste in my mouth for the Leadman Tempe experience, the biking course was a complete failure, if this event continues at Tempe, they better change the course... I'm certainly not going to do it next year. The rest was fine. There was a little bit of a cluster fuck on Saturday with the Collegate Nationals, but I'm not going to fault Redrock for that. I had high expectations and goals for this event... I wanted to be around a 4:35 to 4:40, but anyways... This event has demoralized me, I dropped it down my pants... and makes me question my ability to even go to St. George and vie for a Vegas slot. I know that I have it in me, but this has blown a big hole in my confidence.

  • Comments: I would do this race again. Not sure I will sign up for another longer race in the Spring though. My family had so many issues this Winter/Spring with illnesses, kids home from school, vacations etc etc...so I did maybe 75% of the training I should have. Doing longer course racing after a winter of issues is very stressful and not sure I want to go through that again. BUT, the race itself was great. I really hoped it wouldn't be a multiple loop course with so many turns, but didn't mind it. I've raced in Tempe so many times that riding this course is like second nature. I think Lifetime did a GREAT job with what they had to work with. Everything started on time, plenty of course markings, plenty of cold ice and water (even for the later finishers) and volunteer support was fantastic! Maybe not scheduling it on the same weekend as another HUGE event, but I think it all worked out.

  • Comments: I have no idea what I was thinking registering for this 2 weeks after my A race in Oceanside, but I did. I won't do that next year. Or ever again. Sure, it was fun and I enjoyed it, but I did not enjoy my brain saying "go for it" and my plan of "hard training day." My OCD ADD brain doesn't compute that very well. It was a well run race and fun. My doctor was there doing it...he's crazy competitive...I crushed him like a bug by 20 minutes...then he wouldn't talk to me after the race...anybody know a good doctor? : )

  • Comments: Too many u-turns/turnarounds for the bike. And too many hills.
