  • Comments: I didn't give it my all - clearly if you can run (litterly run) and get your bike, meet friends out for beer and pizza...you didn't leave it all out on the couse. That's okay, there is always next time. :)

  • Comments: Overall, a good race because I FINISHED - the only goal for this race. Also, a quick shout out to all the volunteers -- You All are GREAT, without you this is not possible. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!! "Tim Geiger, You are an IRONMAN!!" - Mike Rielly at 11:32pm CDT Sunday, September 9, 2007 in Madison, WI.

  • Comments: Best race ever. Great volunteers..(thank you!) great organization, great people, great city.. a five star event and highly recommended. Of course.. it sold out in 22 minutes the next morning, so if you plan on doing it and are not registered for next year, start planning how you are going to get a spot now. It's going to get more and more difficult, and for very good reason.

  • Comments: It was so great to meet so many BT'ers for the first time. Thanks for all of the post-race inspires and PM's. I look forward to keeping in touch with all of you in the future. The following is a direct quote from my 2006 IM WI race report: "I went into this race with very realistic expectations of sub 10:30 based on recent races, race rehearsals, etc. So, it was pretty hard to swallow an extra hour on my finish time. It just goes to show you that you can make all the predictions you want, take half-iron race splits and make projections for your first IM finish time, tell yourself afterwards that if such and such hadn't happened I would have finished 30 minutes sooner, blah blah blah. You take what the day gives you and hope for the best. If you missed your target there is always next time." I see no reason to change a word for this time around. This was a very humbling experience for me and it took a few days to get over the fact that I've got another year of waiting ahead

  • Comments: They do an awesome job at this. Everything is organized so well and the support on the course from spectators and volunteers make it a fun day. Some of the reason why it was easier than I expected was the amount of support. I wish I had people to hand me bottles of Gatorade every twelve miles on my long rides and cheer for me and offer me food and drinks everytime I go for a run. The price of the race is absolutly justified since all their planning and support made the race a lot of fun and much lower stress than I expected. The worst part of it is the stupid way the roads around the Capitol are designed. I got lost everytime I drove and went in circles trying to find anything. The time and money comitment, especially when travelling to the race, is huge and I think I'll take next year off from IM racing and do a couple of halfs and a stand alone marathon with the goal of qualifying for Boston. In 2009, I'll go back to IM and see if I can earn a trip to Hawaii.

  • Comments: Does it get any better organized than at an Ironman event? Absolutely perfect in every aspect of the race organization. I had a plan, stuck to it and everything layed out nicely through the course of the race for me. I beat my goal time of 10:17:00 and am unbelievably excited about how everything went. Absolutely perfect and total elation at my first Ironman is all I can say.

  • Comments: Madison is a great host town. Everyone gets into it and all the businesses, volunteers, residents, etc. are very friendly and helpful. They love this event. Now, this is a hard course amongst all Ironman courses (which not one is 'easy') so I believe that you have to focus mentally and physically and do the training to achieve true success here. With that said, I recommend this race to anyone who wants to be an Ironman. The feeling of success after this race is enormous. This is one of the great race towns of the Ford Ironman circuit. It will be hard to beat this one, impossible to recreate.

  • Comments: NAS and Ironman in general gets a bad rap for having expensive races that sell out too fast and shut out a lot of would-be racers, but I never felt screwed over by anything. They have a first-class organization and know how to put on a helluva great race. The weather was pretty much perfect this year, in stark contrast to the last 2 years. It couldn't have been much better for racing.

  • Comments: This was my first MAJOR race (my only other big races would be the Madison Marathon and the 1/2 Tri, Spirit of Racine), so I can only judge this one against those other two races. IM MOO is high-quality, top-notch! It was extremely well-done and would HIGHLY, without a doubt or hesitation, recommend it! I was blessed to have become an Ironman in one of the best races in the country! I'm sorry it took so long to write up. It took me almost 5 hours to complete this. I hope you have enjoyed this report.

  • Comments: For 2 years, I had built up this vision in my head of what it would be like to be able to call myself an Ironman. I still don't think I truly comprehend the magnitude of what I was able to accomplish. I will say one thing though, I would never have actually made it to this level without the wonderful support of so many people leading up to the race, and on race day itself. Thank you everyone.

  • Comments: IMWI is well run. They know how to put on a race and, with the exception of not getting a massage, everything was top notch. All summer I kept saying that I would do an IM every 5 years. For some reason I'm signed up for Moo 08...wonder why? BT and BTer rock. I could not have done this without your support. Thank you.

  • Comments: What an experience - becoming an IRONMAN. All the training is definitely worth it. It was doubly great having my son do it with me. My wife and daughter have been very supportive of the both of us, THANKS!! It was also great having my parents, in-laws, and brother there, along with the rest of my family watching IronmanLive on the web. The volunteers are GREAT, they could not have been kinder and the crowd support was awesome.

  • Comments: Everything for 3 days before the race and the race itself was great. Once you cross the finish line it felt like IMNA just forgot about you. The food tent was terrible, no ice baths, I forgot about the massages and no one mentioned anything to me. That was my only disappointment.

  • Comments: The organization of this event is 2nd only a wedding day. All of the 3000 volunteers focus their attention to the participants. It's really quit amazing how we normal folks are put on stage for the day.

  • Comments: I know there are some folks that look at the price tag of these events and balk, but they put on a good show and take care of you. The logistics to get volunteers, support of the community, etc, etc, etc....just top notch. I will be back for more down the road. Being local, it was awesome having family and tons of Donkeys out there cheering on the crew. EEEAAAWWW!!!

  • Comments: I did it, I was an Ironman. And what a journey. I started with watching the IMWI TV production and thinking I can do this, I just have to get in. Then I registered for IMCA70.3 and trained thru the winter. Found out we were expecting our second child. Trained more, real early in the cold weather. Started and finished teh IMCA70.3 and earned a slot for this race. Kept training and stretching my endurance. Our son Luke was then born July 4th and training mornings included 3am feedings for a warmup. And today came. It was warned that this would be the fastest day of our lives by birkierunner (Jim) He was right. It flew. I cannot believe it is over. I am still finishing this report a week later and it feels like that day is long ago, but the day was a blink. That is why I try to take it in and not hammer thru. I wanted to remember as much as possible. It is a great achievement and event. I started the journey last year with a video, thinking I would only do this once,

  • Comments: Unbelievable. I dont have another venue to compare, but il echo what everyone else has said. The town/communities is awesome. Both in madison and verona and around..they really go crazy.. The music, the cheering, the volunteers, the lining of old sauk pass, they really help keep the energy there when you think you have no more inside. An amazing life-time event. I will do this again...but not next yr. Promised the family a little more time with them...but there will be another IM in my future.
