  • Comments: Besides what I now believe to be an incorrect course detour, the race seemed to flow very well. With around 1000 participants, I’m not sure how much better it could have been. I would give the race a 5 rating, but I don’t have anything else to compare it to. The City of McKinney did an excellent job patrolling traffic and make necessary repairs to the course. The race organizers did exactly that, they organized! Nice job everybody!!! (except the one volunteer who I think screwed up!)

  • Comments: This was a great race. There were lots of friendly people (both volunteers and athletes). I am even more excited about Tri's than I was before the race and I believe this to be a lifelong sport for me. I now have a benchmark in which I can try to improve upon.

  • Comments: This was only my second tri, so I don't have alot of experience to base my opinions on, but here goes First, I think this was a HUGE event and it was run very well. Here is what I think could have been better: 1) There was no drink stations setup prior to the race. I expected to be able to get water prior to the start, so I didn't bring any for pre-race. It was announced, though, that there was a water fountain which I used. 2) The sprint run course was not what was given. This didn't bother me much, but it did throw me off a little (and add to my time). Again, I'm still amazed it went as smoothly as it did and I give big props to Tri-Mania for the event.

  • Comments: There have been several races in Louisiana cancelled due to the hurricanes, so on one hand I'm glad the RD kept the race open to all and managed it as best as she could. On the other hand, there were too many racers on the bike leg. Too many. And while I'm signed up for one more race this season, I'm not sure I'm going to show up. This morning before the swim start, my mantra was that I didn't want to do this. And this was after a drive and overnight stay at a hotel. Looked at the water and all of the other racers and said to my 16 YO daughter that I thought I was done for the season. I can't decide if my crappy bike leg means that I need to do the last one to redeem my season, or to just be happy that my A race went as well as it did. I don't mean to sound lazy. This was my 10th tri, my 12th multisport event this season, and I've done five 60+ bike tours with another scheduled for this weekend. Perhaps I'm just exhausted?

  • Comments: Good organization with this race. The big thing I would have done differently is have the sprint start before the Oly.

  • Comments: The race gets an average, because I loved competing again after such a long hiatus, and nothing could really damp my enthusiasm...but that one volunteer screwing up the course was a real bummer. Worse, not everyone took the turn, so some people will have faster times because of it, and there's nothing they can do. People will know for themselves, but it just makes it harder to figure how I really did. Everything was backed up a little at the beginning because of road construction, so I can't hold that against them. This race is going to be a Regional next year, apparently, and while I think it would be a good race for it, I think they have a lot of work to do. I would straighten out the bike course (instead of having 13 separate turns including 4 U-turns on a 12.4 mile course, but that's just me), and have a more detailed map, but it was an amazing first race experience.

  • Comments: This was my first race. Although it was well organized, it had a lot of participants for the course. I doubt I will do this one again, due to the congestion on the course.
