  • Comments: The only negative comment I have about the race was the lack of volunteers at the transition exits, so there was no one checking to make sure people weren't walking out with bikes they don't own. Fortunately nothing of mine was stolen. Also, very minor negative comment, but it was very hot and there was no sports drink available on the course or for after the race. The only option was water. Next time, I'll make sure to have my own sports drink to rehydrate. Besides that, the event, as always, was well organized and lots of fun!

  • Comments: This is always a glorious event, well run and with a great atomosphere. The crowd was very supportive right up until the last girl got cheered home. (This was her 2nd tri, the 1st had been the day before and she had lost 35kg in the 9 months she was training). Again, the event's charity was the Esther Foundation, which helps young women who have had problems with addiction, depression and domestic violence, and exercise is part of the recovery programme so the women who had raced told us their stories and it was humbling and inspiring stuff. The final presentation was the spot prize of a $2000 bike and it went to a teenager who had borrowed a bike for the race so we all cheered at such a fitting end to a gorgeous morning. I phoned home to tell them I had done okay and when I got there, my son had set-up a pink race tape to run through with "Well done Mum" written on it and he'd made me a trophy. Best part of the day :-).

  • Comments: The race really meant a lot to me; I did my first ever mini tri at this event in 2006 when it was still small enough to be held at the river near my house. I had only learned to freestyle six weeks before and I was 25lbs heavier than I am now. I remember looking at the women doing the sprint distance and thinking how amazing they were and that the distances involved seemed huge. The event is now much bigger but has retained the wonderfully suppportive atomosphere so it was a good place for my first sprint distance. The conditions were horrible but I got through it so I have come away with renewed enthusiasm and motivation for the future. The feeling of achievement is awesome; I am not naturally athletic and spent a lot of my childhood being described as "you know, the middle Crawford girl, the short fat one with the wonky leg". I'm still vertically challenged and the left knee still bends awkwardly but no longer am I fat and I've left the feeling of being a nameless member of

  • Comments: Well, I did it! My first long course sprint triathlon. This distance would have been inconcievable to me even last year. It was just right for my fitness level today though! Sure, my swim navigation could have been better, I could have not had a headache and I could have remembered to take my helmet off, and if I'd done all that I could have done it 1-2 mins faster. But I am not going to nit pick and complain. I had a great race, I did the distance and I am really happy with my time :)

  • Comments: I loved this race, its such a great race and so supportive being just for women. One of my friends watching it said it was like a Department store of women so many different people out there having a go for the first time. It was hot and hard racing. I'm very very happy with my times! especially my run as I know that was faster then I normally run. I definitely felt like the training for the half paid off today. I'm also pretty happy with coming 10th out of 43 in my age group. there may be pictures on their way
