Comments: This race is amazing. Everything about the week was enjoyable. I had built the race up in my mind so much that I was afraid it would not meet my expectations, but it certainly did, and then some. The atmosphere at the swim start was electric. The bike course was fantastic. Of course, I wish I could have held it together better during the run. The Challenge Family puts on a great event here. It is probably a once in a lifetime chance for me to participate, but if I ever get another chance, I would absolutely jump on it.

Comments: This is an incredible race that lives up to its reputation. Between the beautiful Bavarian villages and country side, along with the amazing crowd and volunteer support, this is the best Iron distance race I have done so far (out of three) and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Being able share the experience of the finish line together with my daughters and nephews by my side and watching the happiness on everyone's faces is one the biggest highlights and most memorable experiences to date! I would love to do it again in the future, but with my own bike this time!

Comments: The highlights of the race were traveling with the family and participating as part of a larger team. The CNN Tri Nyon Team had a number of strong sub-11 hour finishes. A number of teammates did their first IM. And there were a number of family relays, where parents and the children raced different parts of the relay. Funny story - When the first relay team signed-up (the 8:40 team) the application was in German and we just checked a bunch of boxes. Not too sure what they meant. At the end of the race, we heard our names called over the loud speaker. We made our way to the front of the stands near the finish and learn that we won 1st place, but for what we were not sure. Then we figured out that we took first place out of 52 teams in the 'Corporate Catagory'. Nice :) Final Footnote: While we were picking up the bikes that evening at T2 I somehow managed to bump into a fellow BT'er - Drew. It was great to meet him and exchange a few words. He raced a great IM.

Comments: Christine was waiting for me when I came out of the tent into the spectator area. This was her first time watching a race and she was worried about me during it because she kept seeing people taken away in ambulences during it and thought people were dropping out because it was so hard. Until she figured out that almost all of them were spectators and were being taken away because they were so drunk. She had finessed her way into the VIP parking area so we had a short walk to the car, dropped off my wet race clothes and walked back to the race. We hung around the finish line for a little while watching more people come thru and enjoying the spectacle and the rainbow behind the finish line. After a little while we walked over the t2 which was about 1/2 mile away and picked up my bike and soaked thru gear bags. As we were walking someone heard us speaking english and stopped us - 'are you on BT?'. There was one other BT person doing the race (he did the swim and bike relays) -
