  • Comments: For a first time race, this was excellent. The venue is fantastic and the courses were good. Still some logistics to work out. It was disappointing to not be able to easily access the host hotel after my race - lines were crazy long to cross the road and required LOTS of walking (from transition to gear back check back to pedestrian crosswalk). At the end of the day, after getting my bike, we found a tunnel near transition that lead us back to the host hotel. Would have been good to have a FORMAL route available to use this tunnel (we had to sneak across the course). Also, more food options (either free or to purchase) and credit card purchases are a must! A lot more food would have been sold, had credit cards been accepted. Lots of folks asking to borrow cash. Overall, really enjoyed this race, can't wait to do it again next year!!

  • Comments: This was a GREAT event. I felt that it was very organized and well run. Many of the complaints people had proved to be unwarranted. While the finish line was not dazzling, the overall event and the Expo added to the "big race" feel. Being able to run on the blue carpet was awesome and the scenery was great. Better signage and clarification on the run course would have made the race just that much better. ITU Chicago is the host of the 2015 World Championship final in September 2015. I definitely want to go back! It was pretty awesome being a part of such a big, professional event. It was also very cool to see Javier Gomez and the rest of the pros race later that afternoon. It was an unreal experience and so exciting.

  • Comments: excellent course. Too bad its not a permanent deal for chicago. This ITU's seem to like to move around.

  • Comments: Course was well designed. Monroe harbor is a great place to swim even though it was poorly organized to start the morning. Bike course was fantastic. I really hope I get to do that course next year when the WTS Grand Final comes back to Chicago. Run course was great too. Only thing I would complain about is the transition area layout, especially entering T2 with the run around the whole area to get to the entrance. One major complaint I had were amenities for the athletes, especially in the morning before the swim. I was fortunate to have gotten there early but the line for body marking was out of control when I was leaving transition. When I got to the swim entrance I thought there would be some sort of granola bar/water station for athletes waiting to start, but there wasn't. I had to find a booth at the expo that was fortunately open at 6am to buy a clif bar and bottle water. My family members who were there also said the volunteers were very short fused and didn't really have

  • Comments: This race was awesome. For the amount of people who did this race and for this being the first time, it was excellent. Running across the finish line with the grandstands and having the hype that goes with ITU was worth the trip to Chicago. The only thing that could be done differently is doing a better job with the body marking and maybe more signage so people knew where to go. Great race!

  • Comments: For a first time race it was ok. They need to work on some organization and directions/communication. Many of the volunteers gave incorrect instructions. Body marking was a compete mess and I felt for the packet pick-up people on Sat. as the line was crazy. Gear pickup and drop off needed better logistics as well. I think there were only 3 people working it when I picked up. Way too much volume for so few people.

  • Comments: I loved this race, everything started on time and it was such a positive vibe!! I just wish I was better informed on the race course. My DQ was my fault, I should've done a better job of educating myself of the run course.
