  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: The bike portion is tough. Not a closed course. On provincial roads, no shoulder, large bumps. This is not their fault, it is just our poor road maintenance. You need to be pretty much self supported on the bike. First bike aid station is 15km in. Then not another for close to 50km. Just have water or Gatorade. The run was better. Aid stations about each mile. Water, Ice or Gatorade available. They also had icewater soaked towels for you head. Sprinklers and hoses set up to keep you cool. This is just a very tough race. The head and humidity and wind make for a very long, tough day.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: The race was well organized and volunteers and officials were great. The course itself is very challenging. I was a little disspointed in the food selection on the run (no gels? no oranges? no pretzels?) and was surprised (and very dissappointed!!) that they did NOT give out medals! Fortunately because I placed first in my age group, I still got a prize ($25 Running Room gift card and a pair of running socks) so felt better about that. I'm glad I decided to do this race this year as it was a good lesson for what I need to work on for Wisconsin.

  • Comments: volonteers awesome, I am sure that in a normal state of mind the run course would be logical .. but it was not clear to me. Lol also the volonteer had to tell me twice to stay left - well at the best of times i don't know my right and left without thinking it through, so at this stage of the event I needed her to just show me and not make me think!

  • Comments: The volunteers at all the events I've done are awesome. This event was very difficult both physically and mentally. It was very welcoming to see the smiling faces of the people who give up their personal time, just so that people like me can chase their dreams. In the past year and a half I have gone from couch potato to duathlete to triathlete. I've dropped 70lbs, I have a huge store of energy, I can chase my 6 year old son around all day and not break a sweat...my wife likes what she sees ;) and I've made some great new friends. I was warned a little while back that this tri thing is addictive...all I can say is: "where can I score my next fix?"

  • Comments: As said above. I don't think it was just the weather. The Race Director just did not have stuff (like food on course, toilets) organized. He is new. That combined with the crappy road surface makes me think I'm not going to do this race again...although I really like the hotel proximity and all the good friends that were there.

  • Comments: Medal in the shape of a corn cob and an apple (cornman/appleman triathlon) looks like a penis...someone pointed this out to me. I didn't think it up all by myself. Worst run of my life...I loved this race (just after I finished) Reg Beach had a better performance, but I learned so much more on this race, about my abilities, my limits and how I need to work on my mental game. Today I'm a man....well half a man...A cornman to be exact...wanna see my husk!

  • Comments: I was able to cheer on everyone else at transition as they came in from the bike, went off on the run, returned to start their second loop, and then finally finish. Congrats to all the finisher - you were all super inspiring http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=2613

  • Comments: looking forward to doing this distance again. Turned out not to be as horribly difficult as I had feared. In order to do a full Ironman, I will have to do A LOT more training!! Especially on the bike, and the run, and the swim...
