  • Comments: This was an incredible experience. The overall quality of the athletes at this event was just staggering. I mean, I'm not horrible at triathlon, but I got a pants-down spanking at this event. Also, I don't get this distance at all. It's really short for me, so I'm really not sure what the pace should be in working through it. I guess that the pacing should be "balls to the wall," but I didn't know that going in, and would have been very concerned to push like that. Next time, however, that's just what I'll do. Very pleased with the slow swim (still, under :30), averaging over 20mph on that crazy course, and under 7:30 m/mile on the run. Had a great time, met some amazing people, and look forward to trying to improve on things.

  • Comments: No free beer which is common at many tris I did this summer in Oregon. I was tired and the weather was cool. I didn't stay for the Elite race. I would have liked to. If it had been sunny I would have taken a nap and hung around.

  • Comments: If you ever get the chance to do this race (AG Nationals) do it. It was a blast. The swag was great. We got 2 shirts, a hat, a race belt, a jacket and some other knick knacks. The people were great and it is something I'll never forget. I do wish I was faster. I do wish I was more competitive. I do know this is a hobby and my family (wife, daughter, parents and in-laws) were all there rooting me on and don't care what place I came in. They and I are just proud I qualified and raced. :)

  • Comments: The schwag-bag was great: USAT hat, 2 t-shirts, USAT Yankz, finishers jacket, transition towel. The only beef I have with the whole event was that the food afterwards was horrible. You got your choice of a hot dog or gross bar-b-que sandwich. I'd rather have the usual bagel and bananas at the finish line than to stand in line for 20 minutes for what they had. I didn't stick around for the awards ceremony/appreciation dinner, maybe that was a lot better.
