  • Comments: My total time was 1 hour, 38 minutes, 10 seconds. It was a full 8 minutes longer than I expected. The goal I set for myself seemed reasonable of 1 hour 30 minutes. The heat and humidity along with the long hill climbs seemed to slow me down. I ended in the middle of the pack of women in my age group. I do truly wish I knew how I compared to other “Athena” women. It’s hard to judge my progress when my race results are not comparable to women in my weight category. I was 18 minutes slower then the first place woman, and 20 minutes faster than the last spot. I learned some more lessons and will change my training to address my weaknesses which seem to be pretty globally tied to my endurance. The easiest thing I need to change is to wear my chip on my left ankle and not my right. (It might get caught on the bike chain) I also need to explore more with the tire pressure on my rear tire, and check it again before the race and not the night before.   • Comments: Pittsburgh Triathlon Club had over 30 athletes competing and more spectathleting. Waves worked well: slowest to fastest so there wasn't waiting around at the end for people to finish. Start could have been moved up to lessen the effect of the heat. There were volunteers, including 4 fire companies and the football team manning every major intersection. Some were more helpful than others with encouragement, direction, and handling cars.

  • Comments: If you like hills, you'll like this one. Lots of volunteers (really all over -- 4 fire depts & a high school football team) but I still heard about 3-4 people making wrong turns & similar things.

  • Comments: fairly well organized... small field. Now that it seems to have been moved to a Saturday, I will probably try to do it on a regular basis.

  • Comments: This was a good race. Unfortunately there seemed to be a lack of competitors. 53? How odd... But... as long as it isn't on a Sunday, I would do it again next year.
