Comments: I liked the bike and run courses, but the overall location for this tri leaves a lot to be desired. Very spectator-unfriendly (worse than Jordanelle) and a rough, rough transition area. Lots of uneven ground to run on. Saw one woman tumble pretty hard on a rut.
So, well organized (as all Triutah events are), but don't know if I'd come back with my family again to this race. Would probably do it again alone, though.
Comments: Echo is a very good race. TriUtah puts on very good events.
I can't really compare this year's time with last year's due to the "alleged" longer swim. ;-) Last year, I swam it in 25m vs. 31m--I'm NOT 6 minutes slower this year with a good swim. :)
Bottom line, I'm happy I finished and got to enjoy it with my friends.
Comments: Since this is my first race, i dont have much to compare it to. However, in most ways it met or exceeded my expectations. The only gotcha for me was this: I did the walkthrough of the transistion area the night before, so I knew where everything was. However on race day, they moved the bike in and run out gates and I was a little confused. I eventually found the right places to go because they were well marked. I guess I shouldve done another walk through on race morning and not assumed it hadn't changed.
Overall, I am thrilled with my first race. I have never been very athletic or competative and I was a pack-a-day smoker up until about four years ago. When I put down that last cigarette, I never could've imagined that I would ever accomplish something like this. I have a young daughter and I want to be a good role model. But, selfishly, I want to be around for a long time and have good quality of health for as long as I live.
Comments: TriUtah always does a great job. I would have liked to see packet pick up a little more organized though. The designation for the lines were on the boxes on the table rather than on the tents above where people could see them.
