  • Comments: This race is a blast! I PR'ed this year in spite of everything, mostly because I ran faster than last year. Everything is right on time, the volunteers are just great and the finish sandwich is really yummy. I did the whole race on InfiniT for the 1st time and it worked really well. I used a concentrate on the ride with a bit more protein and on the run, used the short distance formula with less protein and my system tolerated this really well. I'll stick with it for sure. I'll volunteer next year for sure. And the sweatshirts are zip up hoodies in bright blue, the best ever!

  • Comments: I had a marvelous race! Ann talked me into this (like it took two minutes...let's face it, I love this kind of stuff) in February. It sure seemed like a better idea THEN than it did all this week before the race! Honestly I went into it very very nervous, but that's part of the reason I do these things. They scare me. If I know I can do something, no problem, where is the challenge! I love endurance events because you never know what might happen. Plus you get TIME to enjoy the scenery. I loved seeing the Spokane area in a whole new way. I'd love to take Roy out on that bike ride. I loved the new people I met, even if all we did was exchange a "Looking good" as we passed each other. I enjoyed every single volunteer, and tried to thank every one of them. Thank you volunteers! Things I learned from mistakes I made: -Train harder on the bike next year so the pain is minimal. -Nerves before the race are normal, but you can't let them rule you -Eyes are an important part of the swim component

  • Comments: The race directors and volunteers at this race do a really great job, and Great Harvest Bread Company puts together an awesome meal at the finish line. The bike is really fun, but the run is very hot. You have to make sure you drink a lot or you will pay for it. I was upset last year because I saw a lot of cheaters (drafting, blocking, pacing), but this year it seems like they really got that under control. If you want to set a PR for T2, you can't beat Troika. There's just one negative about this race: The scary turn at mile 55 is pretty dangerous and has surprised me every year. I know a few people crashed there, so they should put a warning sign up as you approach the turn.

  • Comments: I think they do a very good job with this race. There are a lot of volunteers, the course is challenging and well marked, they provide water for the bike segment - although it would work better for me if it was a little earlier in the ride, and there are plenty of aid stations on the run. It starts on time and I like the venue. The post-race meal is great, and the finish is in a city park so there is a place for kids to play while they wait. The only thing that needs to change is that they really need a POP on the bike course. I plan to do this race again, but I'll probably volunteer next year then do it the year after.
