  • Comments: I thought this was a nice showing by Elite. I've done all of their races this year except for San Diego, and they seemed to have it down pretty well here. The porta-potty lines were shorter than ever and there were staggered water stops on each side of the street, which helped congestion. As mentioned above, the kids could have used a little more training, but they did ok. I'd really like to do this race again, maybe with less wine first.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race! Had I not had a marathon in 6 days, I really think I had a chance at PR'ing the race (I would have avoided the wine). I feel like I achieved my goals of an easy, fun, supported training run in a new city. I've done every elite race this year, so am now considered one of their "rock stars". When I do San Antonio next month I'll be a "Super Six." Finally, an interesting thing happened on the way home. RAS26 and I were on the plane to San Diego (don't ask why you go to SD to get to Baltimore) and we were both wearing our race T's. A man getting on the plane asked if we enjoyed the race, and we said yes and asked if he ran it. His response was "No, I put on the race." We both thanked him, and I told him that I had done all of the elite races. He congratulated me and shook my hand. I'm not sure who he was, but he was a great ambassador for elite racing.

  • Comments: I'd been a little turned off by the "rock and roll" aspect of this race, since sometimes I find distractions annoying when I'm running (the bands really bugged me at Bay to Breakers; then again, maybe they were just annoying bands). But I ended up really liking the music and looking forward to the bands. It was a great mix of music, and I liked that they were all cover bands so it was recognizable stuff. (Look, I love original music, but I'm not interested in discovering new bands when I'm running a half mary.) The spectator support in general was awesome for this race. I loved the bands and the cheerleaders and the local residents camped out on lawn chairs in front of their houses. The race was very well organized, especially considering its size. It started on time, there was very little bunching on the course, the volunteers were excellent and there was a ton of stuff available at the finish line (though I was disappointed there were no flip flops -- I'd been told there'd be flip

  • Comments: I liked this race. Maybe I'll really race it next year... :) I hope that my IT band holds up for my marathon, I'm getting really worried about it, because my knee is really hurting after only a half-marathon... sigh...

  • Comments: I have done this race for the 3 years it has existed...I love it. I think it is the best ran event I have ever been a part of. I can't speak highly enough of the event. In a few weeks I may try to run the Silicon Valley Marathon...this will be my 5th time in 11 years, it is not a badly run race, but the difference when running the two so close together is very apparent. One is flawless, the other just seems ok.
