  • Comments: The actual race was great. Now I know why the theme is , "Worth the Hurt", because this race caused some pain. The course was very humbling. The expo, some of the pre-race organization and the post-race activities weren't that great. In fact the expo was the worst one I've ever been to. Last year's was much better. This will probably be the last time I run SF for quite a while.

  • Comments: It would have been nice if there were more porta potties along the race course. There were times around mile10 where I contemplated just running into the bushes to take care of my business.

  • Comments: Looking forward at my shot for sub 3:30 at Chicago...Race is well run and fun, the crowd support is nothing compared to Chicago but the marathon is the smallest of the race weekend. I think the early start 5:30 has a lot to do with limited support. The hills are murder so get ready to suffer. Plenty of hotels in the area as well for out of towners. I don't recommend sticking a marathon in the middle of tri season though :) Brother and I made the San Fran paper since mom was interviewed somewhere on course http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/08/04/BAUM124...

  • Comments: Except for final 40% or so, this was a great course. Biggest issues were: 1. crowding on bridge 2. sports drink and my tummy 3. pavement in the city and industrial area. Hills were there, but that is part of the course and should not be changed.

  • Comments: I would return to do this one again. SF is a great city and a fantastic race destination. My only problem is how to train for a Summer Marathon in the heat. (During Tri Season)
