• Description: The Hartsville Family YMCA International distance Triathlon is a hidden gem in the SC Triathlon Series. Always a big points event for those who finish well, the International distance event has been hottly contested over the past few years.
  
  The 1500 meter swim course is a counter clockwise triangle with each leg being close to 500 meters. Wetsuits are normally not needed nor are they allowed as water temperatures often approach 85 degrees. There is little to no current and little to no chop in Lake Robinson.
  
  The 27 mile bike course is a two loop affair. Athletes head out of the race site and onto the course which is very lightly travelled. Loop one ends and loop two begins at the intersections of Middendorf and New Market Raods. Athletes do not return to the race site to start the second lap of the bike. The course map clearly shows this and may be viewed by clicking the Course Map button at the top of this page. All turns are marked with pavement arrows and directional signs. Police and volunteers man the intersections. Road surfaces are fair to good. A water bottle handoff may be found at the beginning of the second lap.
  
  The 10km run course is an out and back with three offshoot spurs so you get many chances to see just where you stack up against the competition. Aid stations are place every mile and contain water, sportsdrink, electrolyte tablets and Hammer Gel. It can get fairly hot on this run course so please be sure to stay hydrated.
