  • Post race activities? Good
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: The volunteers on the course where excellent. At some points in the run they would start cheering you on by singing your number and encouraging you to keep at it. The food looked good, but I couldn't eat it. Very rustic facility, but overall good.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: This was a very hard course. And I am pleased with my performance. I wish my hip wasn't hurt. But other than that, I feel like this race served its purpose. It was a nice confidence booster for the HIM coming up in three weeks.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: My run was so miserable that I almost feel bad placing in my AG. I guess all the bike-work I've done over the past few months saved me (and perhaps killed my run?). Anyway, there's a lot I still haven't figured out about how to race effectively at this distance. Bottom line ... I blew it. I was just slightly ahead of the 1st place AGer at the start of the run. He stepped up, I fell apart, he got 1st, I got 2nd.

  • Comments: First race where I had some family members attend. Wife, son, sil, and neice jockstrapped for me and they had a blast and I was really inspired by their cheering and taunts. Not that it showed in my overall time or anything, but it was cool to hear my neice shouting "Go Uncle Russell" and the other three shouting or doing the "woof woof woof" thing. You know what....I think I kinda liked having them there even if I was nearly DFL. btw ran this race with a "failed 2XU trisuit. Lycra separated at the buttcrack. Was only noticeable when I bent over. I was picking up my gear when Michelle announces that I have "cleavage...butt cleavage". I knocked her out.
